Randy's last name is Wagstaff. Was it ever explained if he was related to Cheese (and Prop Joe)? Another dumb question: Why do the homicide detectives have to wear suits while the others don't?

My gripe with the 16:9 thing is that they're loving with the DPs' shot compositions, and making some of them look wonky as a result. That's not cool.

Watching the show with my parents was an experience. Season 5 and my dad is saying poo poo like: "Wait, so is this guy Omar or Marlo?" "Who's Jay?" "Who's Chris?" "Snoop was a girl this whole time?" Latent racism or early onset senility? I don't want to know.

The real Jay Landsman REALLY liked to gently caress with people. I wish they'd shown more of that in the show.

I'll always love and hate my former roommate for introducing me to The Wire. After blasting through the series in a couple of weeks I tried in vain to get my fix with other shows. Battlestar Galactica can eat poo poo, and Homicide: Life on the Street, while pretty good, looks cheesy and terrible after The Wire.

General Battuta posted:Omar is, uh, tactically capable, in that he's intimidating and has enough friends to avoid being pinned down and killed, but because his only power is in his physical personage he's doomed in the long run. Anybody who can be destroyed simply by being shot isn't going to last long in the game. Yeah, Omar dies if you kill him. Which characters does this not apply to?

Carccetti forced to deal with Davis, who also comes away scot free? Levy suffers no consequences from his leak incriminating him, and Marlo is just instantly up in the high rises suited up dealing with the big shots after being allowed to walk on the charges? :o The king stays the king? It's almost like the game is rigged! What a bad show.

Yeah, it's ironic and poo poo. Marlo gets exactly what Stringer Bell wanted. But it isn't what Marlo wants so he's going to piss it all away in his quest for notoriety.
