Callick posted:Nozoki Ana is -kinda- along the lines of the other comics you mentioned, but it's slightly more lighthearted. It's also filled with WAY more sex and many panels are people loving even though it's not "hentai" necessarily. It's also a really good comic and has a great ending. Yeah I downloaded some of this as well and read 1 or 2 chapters. I know what you mean about the ecchi/hentai thing, but I don't really care about that. It's more children that look like Titans that turns me off, sex is whatever. I'll keep reading.

Speaking of Oyasami Punpun, is there a thread somewhere that I'm missing? I just finished reading all the currently translated chapters and there's 3 volumes left so I thought it was weird there wasn't a thread for it. So much crazy stuff happens all the time. It is seriously one of the most interesting and beautiful comics I have ever read. For anybody looking for something similar to Aku no Hana, I would definitely recommend it, they both carry a very similar theme and overall message. However, I found Punpun a million times more uncomfortable to read. Some parts really saddened me, and there are so many lines that are very poetic and thoughtful.

There's a general thread for discussing all of Punpun's author's works here. Mostly quiescent at the moment, but I think the next volume isn't far off. As I said in that thread, the most recent Punpun volume made me actually physically ill. It's pretty great and I highly recommend it, especially to anyone who enjoys this manga.

I think the story's just going to end soon on a relatively happy/bittersweet note in all likelihood. I don't think it'll be a "happy ending" but it'll probably involve Kasuga dealing with his emotional problems and becoming a stronger person, having closure or reconciliation with the people whose lives he damaged, and moving on into adulthood. This whole story is just Shuzo Oshimi's embellished autobiography work so that he can show the world "Look, I did it!! I became someone!! I'm a successful adult!"

It's a little troubling to me how focused and purposefully happy this chapter was, it's like the type of thing that happens in a story right before they double down on ruining everything immediately. There's a few things things still left unfinished/unanswered. What happened to Nakamura after all that stuff happened? The ex-boyfriend has to have some hard feelings too, seeing as Kasuga confessed the way he did. It's good to see him confronting things decisively for once, but there's going to be a snag somewhere. I genuinely grinned when he said "I'm home", though, what a feel-good moment.

Welp, back to the roots. The Flowers' roots If Nakamura is still living in Gunma (and I suppose she is), it will be interesting to see how she and her father were treated by the townspeople after that whole... incident. It certainly didn't raise her opinion of them and it may have made her even more antagonistic towards the world and focused on her own values - in other words, even more fascinating for Kasuga, considering his steadily normalizing life.

I'm not sure what'll happen next, but Kasuga seems to have been moving considerably toward growing up. I mean, he still has a way to go but he's further along than before. I don't really expect a relapse on his revisit to the town, but he might have to face some difficult things.

All along this manga has given me a really similar vibe as Onani Master Kurosawa, *double spoiler*so now upon seeing Kinoshita again, I can't imagine anything but her and Kasuga together in the end.

To be frank I'd much prefer the the thought that Kasuga says no and goes on then Nakamura finds him out. Say what you want about perceptions of him, but him growing and crushing the flower was probably my favorite moment of him. Personally I want to see him gtow into a stronger character and if the point comes instead of getting dragged back into insanty, I think a proper ending for this would be him turning Nakamura away or in to the police and moving on. However I'm not stupid and in no way expect that to be the ending.

Man, I totally disagree with you here, especially because I would hate for the series to be all about this young man coming into his own and maturing at the expense of the girls in his life. One of the recurring themes of the series centers on Takao pushing girls away thoughtlessly just because they make him uncomfortable, so if he continues down that path until the end then it would seem like he hasn't learned anything at all.

I can understand that. Honestly, I mean I'd want that aspect to change. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that him asking another guy's girlfriend out was a good thing, but I still would prefer him actually growing up than regressing. I'd also really like this relationship he has now, especially with her asking him to go to Tokyo with her, maybe to be that driving force for him to get his poo poo fully together and just turn down anything to do with Nakamura. I'm only at chapter 21 but good lord does the slippery slope keep on slipping. edit: Nothing will surprise me more then if this doesn't end bleakly with an improperly used Nietzeche quote. It's really an interesting read, though. Kasuga sort of reminds me Mikami in Death Note; He sees Nakamura as a kind of god but well.. Saeki's probably going to keep up the freefall, what with her Kasuga-looking boyfriend. Cuntellectual fucked around with this message at 01:03 on Oct 16, 2013 |

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but... The first few episodes of the anime adaptation have an opening theme has a totally different (male) singer than the original song by Uchuujin. I can't seem to find the name of the artist, or even any reference to the fact that there's a seperate version: all youtube videos I can find use the female version. Does anyone know the name of the artist who sings it or where I could locate more information on getting the song? Thanks.
