Is there such a thing as 120mhz plasma? I've seen a lot of these 600mhz models which I know isn't really the same as standard refresh rate, but what effect does it have? Is it better than 120? Worse? Weird?

600Hz refers to subfield drive, an electrical property that all plasmas need to work properly. It has been misappropriated by marketing and has nothing to do with refresh rate.

Whenever I think of alternative mounts for screens, I think of Ergotron. This unit will support up to 70 pounds of TV - but it's $400 from the maker. Here's the cheapest price I could find for it on Google Shopping: http://www.electrociti.com/_e/Mounting_Kits/sproduct/1023084243/Ergotron_Mounting_Arm_for_Flat_Panel_Display.htm

For that budget you should be able to get a good 42" TV. 40" and you'll wish you got bigger, 37" is extinct, and 32" is too small.

The next size up, 46"/47", is the next price tier up.

Is there any consensus on RCA TVs? Sears has a 52" LED on sale for $479 for Memorial Day. I know they're not first-tier, but are they worthwhile?

This is pretty tempting, aside from a lack of 4k content out there I wonder how good it actually is. ~80% of the Amazon reviews give it 4 or 5 stars, but many of them seem to be using it as a computer monitor.

I'm trying to find an inexpensive stand for a 32" LCD TV. Not a wall mount, but a desk stand. Preferably under $100. I thought I found one at staples.com so I ordered it, but when it arrived I found it has to be drilled into the desk/table you're using. Any leads on a freestanding TV stand?

Basically something like this:

But under $100 - or that one if it's on sale anywhere.

WHY THE gently caress ARE 70" TV's nearly a thousand dollars more than their 60" sister models? Sorry, just had to get that out...

I've been watching prices on 70" LED's for 3-4 months and am a little bummed about the lack of movement. 60" models have dropped through the floor while their big sisters are still selling at a premium it seems. Specifically I've been watching the Sharp LC70le650u. Amazon has had the lowest price for some time now at just under $1800. Unfortunately though, that's just a bit too rich for my blood, my goal is to keep this under $1500.

So here is the question, is there any reason to still think of Visio as a third tier manufacture? For the last 2 TV's I've avoided them without much thought, in my head I still just have the image of a huge Vizio box sitting in the back of a gardeners truck pulling out of a Costco parking lot the morning of an Oscar De La Hoya fight.

The reason I ask this is because of the Vizio 70" Class 1080p 120Hz Razor LED Smart TV E701i-A3 http://www.costco.com/Vizio-70%22-Class-1080p-120Hz-Razor-LED-Smart-TV-E701i-A3.product.100015771.html .. currently going for $1479 at Costco.

Has anyone here had any experience with this model? It seems to hit all of the check boxes as far as numbers go, but I'm just having a hard time shaking the Vizio factor.

For someone who's in the market for the "bang for you buck" 70" LED, is this as good as i'm going to do?

So then what's the case with these TV's with 600hz refresh? I thought it was just a typo at first but I've seen it enough places that I guess it's not. I realize it's not actually loving 600hz but then what are they actually doing? I've mostly settled on the TV I want but it has this and it makes me nervous it'll gently caress something up when I connect it to my computer.

That's advertised on plasma TVs, it's an electrical property called sub-field drive that they need just to work properly. Has nothing to do with the screen's refresh rate.

The 37" size has been going extinct for a couple of years or so, Best Buy Marketplace has a couple and Amazon has a few more, but the caveat is that they may be obsolete models.

I need to get a TV some time between now and the start of November, as I'm moving out and my roommate is taking the TV with him. We had a decent Samsung 48" or so model so something near that size is fine, and outside of that the only things I care about are 1080p, the ability to connect to a networked media server, and won't lag horribly with my PS3. What model are you guys liking these days, and considering I can wait for a sale, when's the best time to buy one? Should I just wait for the end of November instead?

Edit: budget isn't to much of a concern, maybe a $1k limit unless it's obvious going higher will be worth it?

I've been asked to suggest a TV that will be used as a monitor, primary purpose for presentations. Won't be used as a TV but may be used for video games. 60-72" and will be wall mounted. Prefer a less expensive model that is still good quality.

I haven't yet been told a budget for this, but I'm open to suggestions in any case.
