Hmm, I seem mildly stuck. I'm on my third shard and the final city has 8 pegasus defending it, but I'm still stuck at a Tier 1 army. Even with my main character being a commander of level 17 or so I can't even kill a single one of the defenders.

Yeah, I'm not too happy with this release right now. It's a visual upgrade on the original with a worse UI and vastly less snappy action-response.
