I just finished The Room because it was on sale, and that was really great. The ending was really really anti-climactic though. The game does a great job of creating a spooky atmosphere in a game whe very little moves without your input. Certainly worth a buck.

Is there anywhere that will give me more information on what I'm supposed to be doing? The Star Wars one has all sorts of "scenes" but I'm lost as far as what I'm supposed to be aiming for.

Poke around in the options. I don't have zen installed right now, but I know they have table specific instructions. If you have specific questions you can try your luck over in the Pinball thread (although most of the discussion there centers around physical pinball and The Pinball Arcade.)

If anyone stopped playing it because they ran out of things to do, Fairway Solitaire changed their daily course offerings - there is now free two daily courses per day (each with an associated challenge) and you can play old ones up to a week back free too. There is still one paid daily course per day, too.

I really hate that free camera is in the pro mode only. It's the same resolution(so you're not missing anything UI wise), and Apple's guidelines tell developers to make app buttons on the iPad the size such that they would be iPhone sized buttons on the mini. So if you can tap on an iPhone, you can tap on an iPad mini.

Also, if you haven't played it for some dumb reason, The World Ends With You is certainly more expensive than you were hoping at $18, but its literally the best thing Square-Enix has done in, like, a decade, so it really deserves the money.

I think - and it's been a while since I've played - that the amount the bar is colored in is a cue for how much more experience is needed for evolution, and the color is a cue for what PP is dominant. Mingle counts 20 times for dominance, but mingle PP doesn't make a pin evolve 20 times faster.

I can't speak to actually getting all the cars (I quit playing long before car prices seemed unattainable), but I can say that the repair wait times aren't a big deal. They screwed up balancing that mechanic in a way that's good for players, actually - as soon as you get 2-3 cars (a couple hours of play), you never have to stop playing while something repairs. You just switch to another car. This is really weird, because it means the most bullshit wait times are right at the start, which is when most free/IAP games are generous.

Also, like I hinted above, I just picked up Papa Sangre again and that game is pretty platform specific - you can safely assume that people have headphones with them with iOS, since they're also iPods. Papa Sangre also freaks the poo poo out of me. I'm still curious what a visually impaired person thinks of it.

EDIT: Also, I didn't see it mentioned that Zombies, Run! got its second season update. A handful of free episodes from Season 2, a UI overhaul, and now base management resembles a game just a little more. I love the game to death, just for the concept if nothing else. Also falls into the category of "good use of platform".

If you don't run, there's also a companion app that takes you through a 5k training program. I think both apps are 50% off at the moment.

I don't understand the love. Every endless game (except for Super Hexagon, which is not coincidentally amazing) has the same problem - an incredibly boring intro while you play the easy part. RUA2 makes the problem worse by not even randomizing the course. And by making you play 3 times (with the boring start each time!) before you can clear out any missions.

The game is pretty and fun to listen to, though.

I'm not quite sure how to ask this but I'm interested in any iPhone compatible weird meta-RPG games there might be.

Things that will award XP and other RPG kind of mechanics for performing realworld or iPhone based tasks. As an example, running in the background and using your accelerometer as a pedometer and awarding experience points based on distance that would also have some function in a broader game-y (Obviously you can get pedometer apps, but I'm interested in translating real-world things into game "currency" or "experience" in some way. Another example would be a game taking names out of your address book and using them for in-game character's names. Yet another example would be a game using your GPS data in some way. Or using your SMSs or anything like that. Basically metagame-y things that utilize real world data using your phone as an intermediary. I'm pretty sure those who know about games like this will know what I mean.

The real-world connection and the RPG mechanics are both pretty shallow, but I love Zombies, Run! so much I have to plug it when I can.

It also gets you to run, which, you know, good for the heart and all that.

My only hesitation is if it's too scary. I'm not afraid, I just don't really enjoy most horror. Mysteriously macabre is cool, jump scares and people screaming in my ear, not so much...

I'm about 5 stages into both the Nightjar and Papa 1. The only real jump scares are when you screw up and the death sound plays - its usually loud, and a bit grusome. But at the same time, you know if you're very close to something dangerous happening, so it never made me jump.

That being said, the games can get sorta intense, if you're the sort who doesn't like that.

Also, papa sangre - remember that a full turn of the dial is 90 degrees. This is important for backing up. I don't love playing the games, but I'm so in love with the concept that I keep buying them, just because I want to see them do well. :3:

Buy Papa Sangre 2. It requires no knowledge of the first game, and they finally did the most intuitive thing possible by making the game controllable with the gyroscope. So instead of spinning a wheel on screen you have the option of physically turning.

I'm not sure if its improvements they've made to their engine or that extra bit of immersiveness, but PS2 feels much better than the first one or The Nightjar. I'm rarely feeling frustrated about my deaths this time around.
