weekly font posted:What would you like to see in a bad movie podcast or what about the ones that exist do you not like? I hate We Hate Movies because it sounds like two dumb kids riffing in mom's basement. Its not funny, its not interesting and it doesn't provide me, the listener, with any value. Remember, your podcast is a product and you want other people to consume that product. Don't be lazy and think you can riff on the fly; prepare your material in advance. Also, learn when to drop a bit. If something isn't funny the first time you say it, it isn't going to be funny the fiftieth time. Pull what comedy you can out of an idea and then move on. Finally, and most importantly, don't do impressions. I don't know you, I've never heard your voice, but you don't sound like Yoda, Christopher Walker, Sean Connery, Christophe Waltz, John Wayne, Elvis, Samuel L. Jackson, Truimph the Hand Puppet Dog or whoever you want to do an impression of. Its not funny, its just tiresome.

Bloody Hedgehog posted:When Mantzoukis is basically playing an idiot on the podcast, and yet is continually astounded when June completely fails to understand the most basic concepts in the movie, what the hell is going on with her. I think it has a lot to do with the language of the movies they're watching. Paul and Jason understand nerdy comic book and sci-fi movies because they've been watching them their entire lives. June, presumably, hasn't. So when a movie uses a lot of language specific to the genre (like Street Fighter), June is completely lost. On the other hand, June has no problem digesting bad romcoms or female-centric plotlines in action movies because those are the kinds of movies she watches and enjoys. See, for example, her take on Twilight: Breaking Dawn and Barbarella.

I definitely saw it in theaters and a bunch of times on video. Don't quite remember why, but I think it had something to do with 1) being too young to accurately judge the quality of movies from their trailers and 2) liking Martin Short from SNL reruns on Comedy Central.

June both plays and is literally "the average woman." That's what makes her endearing because, unlike hipster comediennes, June's the kind of woman you probably grew up with and know in your personal life. She sincerely believes in ghosts, doesn't feel the need to fit in with the guys and has her own, girly, interests.

You listened to 27+ hours of people talking about a 90 minute movie over and over again and your biggest complaint is that they didn't stay on-topic. Honest question: what is wrong with you?

The show runs an hour and a half and the break between shows is, what, a half hour to 45 minutes? That means they had around 3 hours to find a working tape recorder (or whatever) after they learned theirs wasn't working, and still make the second show. The fact that they didn't smacks of unprofessionalism/laziness/whatever.
