Well, that's pretty drat neat. Some much-needed content!

For fighter-only mode, will it use the same controls as usual, or have you considered allowing more granular control by putting your extra fighters on the buttons that were used for destroyers and frigate? Individual loadouts for each fighter would add a lot to this mode as well.

It'll use the same controls, mostly because I didn't want to write another variant of control scheme.

I can see why individual loadouts is brought up every once in a while, but the game would need to be drastically slowed down to have that even matter. The game is super chaotic, so losing a fighter due to the randomness inherent in the combat sandbox is just part of it. That causes all sorts of friction and weird questions -- do you need to pretty much restart when your bomber gets killed because he juked into a long-range artillery shot? What happen on a reinforcement and how can you plan for it in a way that is interesting? No to mention, individual loadouts would require a rework of the loadout screen which would take longer than I want to spend on it.

I could probably screw around with this game for much longer, but it makes way more sense to move on and take what I learned and apply it to something else (it won't be a space sim). But regardless, thanks for putting up with my nonsense. You guys are hilarious and honest with your feedback which is great.

Please post in a thread like this when you start your next game. It was really fun to watch your process and to see the game take shape.

Really digging the variety in the flagships, but do I need to be the one who fires the killing shot for the flagship assassination achievements/icons?

You need to kill the pod, and it needs to be on Harbinger difficulty (or above if you're a masochist). And you need to be on the beta branch (but I assume you are).

If that's not working, let me know what mission so I can make sure this morning's update catches it.

Dragon mode is so intense
On Raid at Su'meer Cloud I was just too slow in taking out the last cargo pod, and the flagship warped in with an interdictor. Take that out, try to line up on the escape vector, get a torpedo salvo launched at me, end up making the torpedoes chase me around the flagship and back into its shield bubble, finally jump out under fire and with no wingmen.

gently caress I love this game.

Picked this up last week and I've pretty much 100% it aside what I think is a bug and Dragon mode. The final ending choice is still locked and I've done all missions on Harbinger with bonus plus the carrier bounties. Aside from that it was pretty great and I can see myself coming back to this every so often when I need a quick space sim fix.

I finally picked up the game. 7 Hours to beat the game on harbinger, kill all the flagships, then beat it again on Dragon to unlock the final ending. Honestly it was short but it didn't feel short it just felt natural. Its like ok, I do all these hit and run attacks on traitors and it all leads up to the big show. Hats off to the goon who made this game. I hope that you feel encouraged to do more awesome work like this.

1. Bump up the difficulty.
2. Shield extenders don't work if you don't bring shields to begin with.
3.
4. The drift button is your friend.

I mean the final flagship doesn't really count but I'll give it a go and report back. I'm thinking Shields, AP Rounds, Autocannon, EMP.

I prefer missiles to EMP. Capital shields you take down by flying inside and destroying the bridge (does destroying other modules take down shields? I forget), and using missiles lets you put hurt on beefy things like flagship turrets while waiting for your autocannon to reload.

Once you unlock purifier bombs it becomes significantly easier.

Viva Miriya

Ok I really need to learn how to deal with torpedoes consistently because I died screaming.

until I learn that flak drones and armor piercing rounds are gonna have to be the way to go.

Dealt with the 1st mission's flagship on dragon by basically relying on flak drones to make torpedos go away and blew up escorts. I assigned my fighters to target the bridge while I bombed the flagship. It was over quick. Had to keep moving because one shot from a railgun would end a fighter and being too close to a torpedo launcher would mean I'd die when a volley started firing irregardless of flak drones.

Cool, once I do that and get some ships I'll start going back and doing it. I've been replaying on higher difficulties already, but mostly exploded to the flagship. I don't think the scarif torpedo even hit. :v:

if all else fails, equipping carapace armor means that you can eat an entire torpedo volley and take, like, six damage.

e: on paper, you should be able to kill flagships pretty well with ap ammunition, making repeated passes against the bridge every time it respawns, but there's really no point

Probably because the torpedoes have been directed at something other than you and being shot up yes.
