Vinny Marchi, who is a bit of a Tiktok darling, dropped this today. It's catchy as gently caress, imo. I dig him.

Posting Katy Perry in this thread should be a probe-worthy offence imo

honestly this made me go back and listen to Teenage Dream in full for the first time in... maybe ever? It came out when I wasn't really listening to albums in full so I basically only knew the singles

Quick impressions:
- Peacock may be one of the worst things I've heard in the last month
- California Gurls and Firework are both catchy but don't mean anything. I have zero affection for the former, but still have some for the latter
- Hummingbird Heartbeat is pretty decent
- Last Friday Night is still really catchy (even if the line 'that was such an epic fail' lands even worse now) (edit: I really dig the scream at the end of the bridge turning into a sax solo)
- gently caress Dr Luke but the title track is basically magic

Rosalías new album is bonkers good.

The first and last tracks are my favorite, with Porcelana, Berghain, and La Perla my other favorites ( but the whole thing is greaaaaat)

Wood I like up until halfway through the first chorus

Peacock is teeth-gritting from the get-go

Yep that's them, that's my girls.

Don't listen to Katseye lyrics backwards either. Yvan eht nioj doesn't mean anything.

The name spelt that way was the one put that way:
Catseye, Dreamscape, NewCrazy

The other two, especially the last, are so bad it seems like they always knew which it would be the management gave them two bad options to give them a say while having already picked. The girls changing it to 'K' was inspired, however.

Still haven't listened to Rosalía's album yet (sorry!!!) but listening to "Do It" 500 times in a row got me to check out the underscores album Wallsocket, and holy poo poo that's one hell of an album. Some real gut-punch lyrics in there too. The production is pretty overstimulating at times but it has some great quiet moments to balance it out.

Also lol that this came out on the exact same day as Starfucker, what an amazing day for pop music that completely passed me by at the time.

I don't wanna say "keep being depressed as gently caress in LA" but we've gotten Hayley Williams' and Lauren Mayberry's best work from it, so maybe.?

It's not blowing me away, but I like it. The gag at the end with Woman's World was funny imo.

I feel like this is better than the whole 143 fiasco. I don’t think it’s a good song, but there’s at least something here.

The main problems I have -
The verses meter just feels really plodding to me.
The breaking of the rhyme just doesn’t work. Perhaps Mr. Brightside is the ultimate statement on that trick. But here it just feels awkward.

Either way, it’s not fun to criticize this one because it’s a 4 or 5 out of 10. Let’s see if she gets back on her feet with the next one!
