So Ticketmaster is saying they sold over 2 Million tickets in the first 2 presales, which broke the site. The first one was limited to a specific number of verified fans that they knew about, and the second one was Capital One card holders. If you total up the stadium capacity of all the shows, which always gets bigger with floor seating for concerts, that's 3,655,927 potential tickets. Can you imagine the poo poo show tomorrow would be for everybody trying to grab 1.6M tickets in a free for all, when so many people came up empty handed for 2 Million tickets? Seriously, just do a lottery at this point. I'd rather not waste anymore time looking at a virtual queue. Edit: Correction... Ticketmaster had 3.5 Million people register for the Day 1 verified fan presale. They then let in 1.5M of those people with codes, and sold 2 Million tickets on day1. I heard Anti Hero on the radio and thought the step daughter/funeral line was funny. So, I watched the music video and saw they got Mike Birbiglia to be in it. I don't know who Taylor Swift is. But thank you for confirming for me that Mike is still chugging along with his wackadoo life.

lol. I’m only being slightly facetious here. I know she’s effectively the most popular artist in the world right now, but if you asked me to name any of her songs (other than Antihero right now) or point her out in a crowd, I wouldn’t be able to do it. The extent of my knowledge is that Kayne was a dick to her at an awards show a few years ago, and she got in trouble for taking photos with a bunch of neonazi fans.

Since no one wanted to answer my fun question about tacky songs here’s another boring list, this time from Pitchfork. Thoughts: this is really good stuff and ironically has both more interesting and out of the box choices and more of what I would consider classically Pitchfork adjacent music than previous years. Love Utada in the top 10, love American Teenager at 11, but imo their choices from some of the bigger artists miss the mark. I appreciate Western Wind but there’s no way it’s the best track on that album; I get why Anti-Hero is the pick but it’s also not the best on there; two songs from (imo album of the year) Renaissance but neither are Virgo’s Groove, sad. They did go into the album tracks for Charli though. Wish there was any K-pop anywhere, even a token Hype Boy or something from an album like INVU. Also I get the feeling everyone is gonna be snubbing Denzel Curry this year which is a shame because man was on fire the whole year.

I thought the best song on Renaissance was Summer Renaissance, but I agree with your broad point despite really liking both Break My Soul and Alien Superstar. Suprised at We Not Humpin (Remix) making it, I liked it a lot but it felt like nobody really wanted to talk about it.

My top played thing on YouTube Music was just Sufjan Stevens' weird instrumental new age thing from a few years ago because I needed it to help me sleep when I was away from home for a few days or when I was sick and needed to nap. Pretty anticlimactic.

Rolling Stone comes in with the best list of the year. Hype Boy and CRJ (Loneliest Time) back to back in the 20s is as close to objectively correct as any major mag list was gonna get. Also like 10 times as much KPop as anyone else, although still unsure why BP is on the list aside from recognition (and it’s not even the good songs off their album). Other highlights: Syd! A track off the 3am edition of Midnights! Karma instead of Anti-Hero! This Hell! Flo Milli! Weird idiosyncrasies: Picking an album cut off a MUNA album with so many banger singles lol Sky Ferreira Drake Despecha instead of anything from Motomami proper
