Pyroxene Stigma posted:Lorde is fantastic and I'm way too into her music. Speaking of which, I just heard Royals on a semi-local rock station in Northern Wisconsin. I think that's the definitive sign that she's made it. e: Although, listening to her always makes me feel bad about my 16 year-old self... what was I doing all those years?

I think the fact that Sail could claim that title is the real tragedy.

If there's someone who could explain why they like it I'd appreciate it. Like, I guess it's different from other top 40?

I went back to listen to her old stuff to try and redeem her but the contrast just made me sad...

Some good pop: Ryn Weaver -- Octahate This song is really, really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqaOM9tZi64 and pretty much has song of the summer locked down for me. Charli XCX co-wrote it and Cashmere Cat, Benny Blanco and Passion Pit all co-produced it. It's just a lot of really good things put together. I'm really so unhappy that she doesn't have any other songs out yet. Also, this guy: Hozier Take Me to Church https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYSVMgRr6pw Work Song -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upaI4D8gwfs He's been getting pretty big lately, but has been great for a while. He reminds me somewhat of Sam Smith/Mikky Ekko (kind of)/George Ezra: male vocalists who are just way too soulful. Not 100% sure he counts as pop, but he's definitely popular and I wasn't sure where else to post him, so hey. foutre fucked around with this message at 13:48 on Jul 6, 2014 |

Yeah, I think not having a commute (or places/events to go to outside...) has really made it a lot harder to have just one song. I do think Riding Solo by Hind is a strong contender though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnz8iRmmaww exquisite tea posted:The alternate title is "I Also Just Came Here to gently caress." Yeah, her statements on it have also been pretty disappointing- including one that implied she didn't believe Kesha (that she later walked back somewhat, but she's also still working with him so...).

Solomon Gumball posted:Kim doesn't have a clue what happened with Dr. Luke and Kesha, her statements have always supported Kesha while still retaining it is not her business. I mean they did get better but one of her first statements re: working with Dr Luke was "I would like my fans to know that I wouldn’t work with somebody I believe to be an abuser of women, definitely not" which seems pretty explicit. Hard to read that as supporting Kesha...

Man, yeah, it's such a shame. I listened to her stuff and knew she'd produced for some pop stuff. I found a Spotify playlist with a decent number of the songs she produced on it that's worth a listen I think, I had no idea how much she'd done/how much range she had: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4jujzM4Ea9yCgNvynO96Jh?si=0dP9BIYyQLCIYUUffFpLWQ
