I'm still constantly impressed by how much the art in this comic has developed since the beginning. Kinda makes me wish he'd fall into the trap that so many other webcomic people do and redo the first chapter or two a bit

The fun thing about webcomics is that when you think "man this would be a lot better to read in one go instead of reading serially" is you can just shelve it for a while and it'll catch up to your expectation eventually

Howard Tayler is always my response to this kind of thing. I know that Howard is only doing single strips six days a week with a full-page spread every Sunday, but the man has managed to - within the lifetime of his comic, mind - attend cons around the country, hold down two full-time jobs at large companies, get married, have and raise several children, and transition to the magic of self-employment. All of that without missing a single day of updates, even counting technological issues.

I had a hunch and yeah it's fairly obvious how that dude can fit writing the comic into his schedule

EDIT: Jesus, questionablecontent's patreon makes almost 8k/month :eyepop:

There's not really much to get for patreons, it's a way for people to support creators they like in an appreciable and straightforward way, plus methods for said creators to then kickback to those supportive fans with exclusive content. It fills a niche that's badly needed filling for a long-rear end time now and it's a very good idea.

Zach fairly obviously likes to make updates with funny character moments or neat art/setpieces even if it doesn't advance much! I think that's a pretty okay thing to do!

blastron posted:

Sure, the fly arc was whimsical and fun, but was it necessary? What did it add to the story?

It added the question of what's up with the fly, which is intentionally supposed to be a weird/mysterious thing as mentioned by Zach on twitter when poked about it. It's currently unresolved, but is a setup for something in the far future. Compare with the really odd dog at the start of the chapter which on first blush just seemed to be some silly/dumb thing but turned out to be the first sign of the antagonist of the chapter so far.
