I've been reading this thread for a couple pages now, and the game seems really familiar, but I don't remember any of the specifics. It looks pretty cool, though, so I'll keep on reading.

I think she kinda does, but they just like to hide it from you. IIRC, I saw her HP go up a few times after several fights.

Lucia is...special. You never see her stats, never control her, she only uses spells of her own weird kind. But she does improve over time. With plot events she will learn new spells to throw around, and as the rest of the party levels up, I've seen her max HP mysteriously increase without the game saying a thing.

Although I do believe you can attempt to equip an item on her from a store and you can bug the game into showing you her stats that way. They're pretty pathetic, and her speed is so low that she'll practically always go last.

She does in the original, but I don't think that's true in this version. That's based off my kind of shaky memory of this version, mind, but I seem to recall she would level independently.

Some of her spells are gated by the plot but I'm reasonably sure that her hp and the upgrades to her attack spells aren't.

I think I used Anger Dice in place of attacking. Saved money on upgrading and it being so cheap was better than his weak attacks.

Lucia levels after everyone tallied their exp independent of levels. You just click to exit out and she gets several HP added on. Everything about her leveling may as well be from advancing the plot. She is worse than useless at this point.

Took a bit of maneuvering, but here we are.

I don't know Japanese, but going by this, it would appear that early concepts for White Knight Leo had him looking a lot more beastly. He had a wolfman vibe with some of these (fitting, maybe, he's quite the loyal hound), but what stands out most -- and it's a shame that this didn't make the cut -- is the aforementioned fact that he might've been a goddamn centaur.

Funnily enough, his sister Mauri had a similar early design. I strongly suspect what ended up making them change it was the fact that Ronfar, as we know, was previously in a relationship with this woman, and leaving them as such would have raised some extremely awkward questions.

Looking this over, though; I cannot actually remember there being an explanation for the "beast-men" of Lunar. In the original, Jessica Alkirk (the boistrous 'healer', whose role Ronfar fills this go-round) and the main antagonist Ghaleon were of this species. Was this bit of setting info ever explained somewhere, or should we just chalk it up as a fantasy world having requisite fantasy races?

I'll do what I can to get more scans for y'all, but other than mighty steed Leo up there, there isn't anything too crazy yet that's relevant to what we've seen of the game thus far. For those curious: Hiro's design looks like it was solid from the get-go. Early sketches of him are practically identical to what we see now. The same can be said for Ronfar -- it's clear that they had a pretty strong vision for these characters out the gate.

Lucia, though, has some interesting alternate looks, but I'll refrain from posting them yet because some involve a change she makes later. Ruby also has something, and it's rather hilarious, but it won't make any sense until we're past a certain point in the story.

Lowtax banned me because he thought I was trolling by acting really stupid. I wasn't acting.
A lot more thought was given to the Vile Tribe than to the beastmen. They sorta-kinda tried to address that in that game that doesn't exist. But, it sucks. In Lunar: The Silver Star and hopefully in the remakes (SSSC, etc) the beastmen were a largely disenfranchised race which was hated on by humans. Several beastmen NPCs in Meribia point out how they enjoyed staying there because Master Mel made sure they were treated well. Other beastmen around the game complained of human cruelty. It's one of the primary reasons the beastmen sided with Ghaleon in the original Lunar. Many of them were forced to, but some willingly chose to serve the Magic Emperor because gently caress humans.

Beyond that, there's little that can be gleaned from beastmen from games and other materials. Nothing in the established lore which explains where the beastmen came from. There are some fan pet theories drawn from the fact that you primarily find beastmen in the Frontier in the first Lunar Game (which may be the reason why they're so hated since the Frontier is not granted Althena's favor.) With Mel being the only 'important' beastman of that time. By Lunar 2 the beastmen have fully integrated into society, though I'm not exactly sure how many npc beastmen you run into in Eternal Blue.

Some Fan Theories include:
1. Beastmen were created alongside humans and just went to the moon along with them.
2. Althena terraformed the moon first and the beastmen naturally evolved there into several varied species of beastman then Althena brought humans over many years later and they were racists. :furcry:
3. Stop thinking too hard about it they're awesome.

I lean more towards option 1 or option 3 myself. Also, yes, Centaur Leo was one of the things I wanted to show. However, I'm glad someone else got the art book because my loving scanner is broken. :argh:

Episode 11: THE BABY

Last time, we cured Lucia of her electric mayhem, and then everyone took a nice nap.

We rejoin the party the next morning as Hiro makes a shocking discovery!

: "Oh no! What if Leo sneaked in during the night and took her?"

: "Is it 'sneaked'? I always thought the correct term was 'snuck'."

: "I don't think 'snuck' is a word."

: "...No, I'm pretty sure it's 'snuck'. Anyway..."

Lucia's missing! We gotta find her! IT'S UP TO US!

Before we leave, we should probably grab Ronnie.

: "Tragic...backstory...nooooooo...zzz"

: "Ronfar is really pooped from lifting that curse. He's sleeping like a rock!"

: "What he did for us was really nice, Hiro. He's not as bad as I thought he was!"

Town Theme

Ron's down for the count, so looks like we're on our own as we search the town.

: "...but he's changed a little since he met up with you. I can see the maturity and resolve in his face. Of course, I hope he doesn't grow up TOO much. His childish antics are part of his charm!"

: "Uh...we like JUST met him. Like, yesterday afternoon."

: "Oh, I know. But you weren't supposed to talk to me again until sometime next disc!"

A lead! The game is afoot!

: "She was glancing around the town, looking for something...or someone. Is she your girlfriend? Did you get into a fight? And don't you realize that women are always right?"

: "You've been in the sun too long, lady! Hiro is NOT Lucia's boy-toy! Not now, not ever!"

: "Ahahaha, I sure do love when I totally can't hear things!!!"

: "...kept staring into the sky like she expected it to fall. She seemed so innocent, but her face was blank, like a statue of the Goddess."

Expressionless weirdo wandering around, staring at stuff? Sounds like we're on the right track.

: "...and about a crisis in our world. No offense, but she seemed fairly out of touch with reality. She also said that a guy named Hiro believes her story, which makes him equally insane."

: "...you're a jerk."

The trail seems to end here, so maybe this dude saw something.

: "What."

Oh, he drew a picture. Okay? Anyway, This is our first bromide! Bromides are collectable items added in the PSX remakes of both Lunar games. They are basically little bonus artworks of the female cast (mostly) that exist largely for incredibly tame, surprisingly tasteful fan service. We'll be picking up all of these in time, because they are collectable and thus I feel compelled to catch them all.

Our first one gives us a better look at Lucia's stylish space duds. It's a little Godwin-y, but still miles better than your average JRPG heroine get-up.

: "When did you see her? Where did she go?! Tell me what you know, and tell me now!"

: "Oh my! I didn't mean to upset you with the picture I took. I saw you traveling with her earlier and assumed you were friends. I invited her in to meet my wife and child a short while ago. I'm not sure how long ago your friend went into my house, or even how long ago she left. Once I started working on her portrait, I lost all track of time."

: "Wait, did you take a photo or paint that picture?"

: "I downloaded it."

: "Oh."

: "..."

: "Wait, what?"

And so they did.

is that a baby

that is a baby

The Baby

'You just have ta see the BAYBAY!'

: "I agree with you, but please don't speak so loudly. He just fell asleep a few minutes ago."

: "Sorry about that, ma'am. We're looking for a friend of ours by the name of Lucia."

: "She has long dark hair, creamy skin, and she's wearing a fancy red cloak."

: "You're friends of the girl in the red cloak? Yes, I've seen her very recently, in fact. She was quite a strange one. She barely said a word the entire time she was here. I had to run to the store for some groceries, so I asked her to watch my baby for a few minutes..."

: "You let a complete stranger off the street watch your infant child?"

: "Yep."

: "Without even getting her name?"

: "Uh-huh."

: "In a city full of thieves and con artists?"

: "Where are you going with this? Anyway, here's a flashback:"

Lucia steps forward to get a closer look at the crying baby. Upon confirming that, yes, it is crying, she steps back again.

Luckily, the second worse mom in town comes home before the poor kid screams his lungs out.

: "Is he crying again? My poor baby has been restless all day long!"

: "Excuse me...but why is your...little one...crying so loudly?"

Lucia does not understand BABY. What is BABY please explain.

: "Ha, ha, ha! No, dear, it's nothing like that! He was crying because he was lonely."

: "Lonely...?"

The young mother then begins to sing a lullaby. "La la la" etc. to the tune of this song. You should probably click that, by the way, since that song is pretty important in the long run!

She walks around a bit as she sings her child to sleep...

...before gingerly placing him back in his crib.

Lucia is fascinated by this poo poo.

: "What kind of magic did you use on the little one? Was that a sleeping spell? I have never seen that type of magic before. Could you teach it to me?"

: "Ha, ha, ha! that wasn't magic, dear, just a very rusty singing voice."

: "Tell me your secrets, wizard."

: "I have never heard a...lullaby until now. As with many things in this world, it is very strange."

: "You've never heard a lullaby?! I find that VERY hard to believe, dear! You just don't remember."

: "You're wearing a lovely garment, by the way. Did you buy it somewhere in Larpa? No, they wouldn't have anything this fancy here. You must be from out of town..."

: "I suggested that she speak with the Mayor. He seems to know everything about everything so I figured he'd know where to find the Goddess."

Yeah, I'm sure your local mayor knows how to find God's office. Why wouldn't he?

: "I knew she was anxious to find Althena, but couldn't she at least have waited for us this morning?"

: "Could you tell us where to find the Mayor's house, ma'am?"

: "It's the mansion at the north end of town. She left as soon as I told her where it was."

: "Of course she did!"

Okay, well, thanks lady, but we are now authorized to ask the Mayor about our wayward Space Wizard.

The huge place in the Mayor's house, by the way. Ever notice JRPG Mayors never have offices or anything? They always conduct business out of their swanky mansions. Are you supposed to leave an appointment with his maid? Does the city council meet in his living room? Does the Vice Mayor live in his basement?!

Well, we're here now, so it's time to bother the underpaid cleaning staff!

: "She was so fascinated by it that I asked her if she was gonna marry the stinking thing. Maybe she noticed that I'm the only stinking person in this place who polishes the furniture."

: "I swear, if she'd stared at me for another moment, I would've given her a bucket and a mop."

Interesting...

let's rob 'em

The Saucepan Lid is the first Shield we encounter in the game. Both Hiro and Ronfar can equip it right now for a boost in defense, but Ron's still sleeping so...

: "...and whatever it was, he didn't care for the conversation, because I heard him screaming earlier."

: "Hiro, we'd better find Lucia quick, before she gets herself into any more trouble."

We should probably hurry up, huh?

Upstairs, we find the Mayor's family.

: "...'Kay."

: "...and within a few games, she was beating me every time! I've never see such talent with the bones!"

Man, Ronfar's gonna be pissed. Or psyched, I'm not sure. Also, isn't it 'cardshark'?"

Larpa: a town of quality parents.

: "Are you sure you're in the right game?"

: "I need da woik!"

Finally, we meet the Mayor of Larpa.

: "Several of my sources saw you in her company at places throughout Larpa! I'm told you even escorted her into the Sanctuary of Althena's Chosen without permission! She wanted information, and I told her she could travel to Pentagulia by way of a ship in Dalton! Then the crazy girl left without paying my fee, and no one leaves without paying my fee! NO ONE!!"

What are you so uppity about, Hiro? You make 30 bucks from one fight against a couple of weak-rear end goo monsters.

: "Trust me, child, you'll never have enough money to buy most of the secrets in my skull!"

: "Do you realize we could've bought three HUGE fish for 30S, Hiro? I'm gonna cry..."

: "I'm not worried about your appetite, Ruby! I'm worried about where Lucia went!"

: "I could charge you extra, but I'm so nice that I'll tell you where she went for free! She told me that she was going to the harbor to see the sandships!"

: "Perhaps you people can share some information with me about Lucia! Where in the world is she from?"

'What is MONEY? Is MONEY similar to BABY? Please explain. Beep boop'

: "Anyway! If you find her at the harbor, you might want to tell her what money is all about!"

We should probably go get her before the townsfolk get tired of her bewildered alien schtick. But first...

:smith:

Anyway, Lucia is chillaxin' at the docks. She doesn't appear until you see the two previous scenes, I'm pretty sure.

: "Do you know how worried we were?! You shouldn't have just left without a word!"

: "But you look much better than you did yesterday! How do you feel?"

: "Much of the affliction is gone, Ruby, but I am still recovering my strength."

: "Lucia?"

Click dis for cutscene

: "It's so strange."

: "I did not humans possess such wondrous powers. It should be impossible, unless Althena was the source."

: "What a strange world I have come to."

: "It's beauty is unsurpassed, and yet it remains filled with such mystery and emotion."

: "Why is the flower so soft, and the snake so deadly? Why do some love and others hate?"

: "Is this land of contrast the one that Althena created? The one that Zophar rises to..."

: "Lucia..."

: "Hiro, I must go now. I will never forget you."

: "I have learned that I can travel to Althena's City from the port city of Dalton so that is where my task now leads me."

: "Dalton? But Lucia..."

: "I thank you two for your help, and please extend my thanks to Gwyn and Ronfar."

Lucia turns to leave.

Sorry, Hiro, she is outta here.

Tough break, kiddo.

: "She's gone, Hiro...and after all we did for her!"

: "Well, at least we know she's okay. Let's go home and tell Grandpa about our adventures!"

: (Rattigan was right...)

Hey, maybe Ronfar can cheer us up!

: "Just you and your pink pet, huh? Where's the honey-pot? All the villagers are talking about her. I guess she really got around this morning!"

Luckily, the game skips over repeating the stuff we just saw.

: "And how retarded are you guys not to realize what a mistake she was making?"

: "Dalton is the next destination of the Dragonship Destiny! It's probably already there!"

!!!

: "And that's not the worst part!"

: "What?! What could be worse than that?"

: "Your shirt looks like a dishrag."

: "..."

: "Daaaaaaamn!"

Really, no playthrough of the Lunar remakes is complete without 'em.

While the cheesecakey ones are a bit gratuitous, it can be said that they do put a lot of effort into capturing the personalities of their respective subjects (a large improvement over the ones from Silver Star). They tend to be a great source of comedy as well.

Gotta say I've been really enjoying following this LP. The dialogue inserts have been hilarious, on top of this being a very thorough play-through of one of my favorite games (there are things I've learned already that I never knew during my first 2 play-throughs).

Normally I'd keep lurking, but I figured I would toss out with a translation of the Leo character designs scan.

Separate Text: That shaggy-haired Leo is a little scary

Main text: Though it may seem obvious as he and Mauri are siblings, but Leo also had a four-legged version. However, for a number of reasons, he ended up like a human. It certainly would have been hard for him to get up onto the Vulgan (i.e. the Destiny) with four legs. There's also a version of him with a shaggy-haired, bestial look like that of a lion, and a version where he wielded a gun instead of a sword.

So, basically, nothing you couldn't parse from the drawings, as no specific reason is given for dropping the centaur-look (I doubt that the bit about the Destiny really played into the decision).

On the subject of Japanese-to-English translation, I think the localization of this game is part of what makes it one of my favorite games. Many JRPGs from the 90s and even post-2000 are victim to some terribly uninspired dialogue, but this game takes the original Japanese and runs with it in amazing directions. I'm one day-off away from driving off to find a used copy of the Japanese version of this game so I can see what the original is like, but even if I find it's well-written, the English localization is a treasure in itself.

Keep up the good LP!

Oh, neat. You're right about it being pretty much exactly what it seems, but seeing what the designers had to say on the subject is always a treat regardless. I'll be sure to keep the notes in place in future scans from the book if you or anyone else are up for translating.

Maybe Leo was going for the Lyle look. Would have been neat to pack a bazooka.

Yeah, I love the hell out of Ruby, partly because she reminds me of my old crazy possessive cat who would get mad if girls sat next to me. I miss her. :smith:

I think it says a lot for the game's characters when your flying kitty companion gets more characterization than most modern RPG protagonists.

Ruby's likeability is not a mystery. She is a flying, fire-breathing, talking cat with zero self-awareness who just says what she thinks. Reason, logic, and common decency be damned.

Episode 12: The Old Man and The Sea

Last time, Lucia hosed off and headed straight for the place Leo is now chillaxin'. Leo, e.i. the dude on a mission from God to kill her. And to make things more embarrassing, the only one who realized this was a heavily hung over Ronfar.

: "Hiro, I recognize that look."

: "Even though I've only known you for like, 12 hours."

: "You want to rescue her, which leads me to the following conclusion..."

: "I usually try not to mess with armies that wield the power of a supreme being!"

: "Leo might work for Althena, but he's flesh and blood, just like me...and I can beat him. I'm going to make him realize that Lucia's here to save us, not to destroy us."

: "You think you can take him? What if he was half horse?"

: "Well, then he'd be unbeatable, no question."

Classy

According to the official ages, Ron is only like 2 years older than Hiro. Official JRPG ages are nonsense.

: "I guess I'm part of this mess now. Why aren't I surprised about that?"

: "It's about time I gambled with my future...and I'm betting it on you, buddy."

: "Don't worry, Ronfar, we won't crap out!"

: "Just please don't tell my grandpa I said 'crap'."

: "...sure."

Let's go save the day! Hell yeah!

Our journey to Dalton is shortly interrupted by one of those little mini-dungeons that exist to compensate for this version of the game's lack of random battles on the overworld. Y'know, Game Arts, ya could've just raised the amount of EXP we get from baddies in your proper dungeons. Or just left random battles on the world map. But whatever.

There is very little of interest to say about this place, so let's blow through it.

In addition to our old friends, the Desert Dolphins, this place has Poison Beetles, which can, shockingly, poison you. They also tend to drop Purity Herbs, which cure poison, so who cares?

There are also these Scorpions that have weird lizard heads. They can also poison you, and can hit for roughly 20~30 damage. They also have almost three times the HP of anything else in the area. They can and will eat you alive if you try to ignore them, but as long as you prioritize them, they're not too bad.

They give appropriately good EXP, though. Ron levels up and gains a new spell.

Destiny Dice is our first spell that hits all enemies on screen, and it is also hot garbage. When you cast it, you pick EVEN or ODD, and Ronfar rolls the dice. Guess right, and all enemies take a hefty dose of magic damage. Guess wrong, and the damage still happens, but to your entire party instead*. Nice try, Ronnie, but just stick to healing, thanks.

*Actually, Ronfar just takes damage, and not very much. Still not cool, Destiny Dice :colbert:

gently caress bugs, get money.

Just before we ditch the place, Hiro hits level 14, and gets a second attack! That means he gets a minimum of two basic hits, so his Ancient Knife actually means he get three for the time being. Ron does more raw damage in one hit, but Hiro will almost always outpace him in damage due to his extra speed and additional hits.

That's enough of Radscorpion Canyon, so we move on.

Finally, we arrive at Dalton, the biggest harbor city in all of...uh, where ever we are. Does Lunar have countries? Or continent names? The first game had the world divided into named Regions, at least. I'm just gonna say this is Michigan, we're in Michigan right now.

Man, we'd better find Lucia quick, but how are we gonna do that in a town this big?

Oh.

Also, the Destiny was there the whole time, regardless of that fact that in clearly wasn't on the world map.

Music ~ Justice

: "...before Zophar returns to power, he will destroy your world!"

: "Ha! You expect me to believe THAT, Destroyer? Althena's only order was to eradicate you, not to listen to your evil lies!"

: "Soldiers! Take the Destroyer below and seal it away!"

A pair of mooks move in to grab Lucia...

And she just knocks them the gently caress out with some green zappy magic!

: "Althena and I are one in our purpose. She would never command that I be destroyed! You have misunderstood your orders, and brought shame onto yourself and Althena!"

: "You dare to place yourself in the company of the Goddess, you insolent wench?!"

Xtacles, GOOOOOOO!

Welp.

: "You reveal your fiendish power at last, Lucia...but I will not let you escape."

: "You will kneel before my sword and succumb to my strength!"

HEAVEN OR HELL LET'S ROCK

Leo starts the fight by powering up his Extendo-Sword(tm).

Then fires and whirling laser sword (which flashes, making screen caps a huge pain in the rear end), subduing Lucia in a single blow.

: "How did Leo defeat her when you lifted the curse, Ronfar?"

: "Leo is the White Knight of the Guard, kitty-cat. Lucia never stood a chance against him. If we don't sneak onto the ship and get her outta there pronto...we all know what Leo will do."

: "He won't do ANYTHING! We're going to rescue Lucia no matter who stands in our way!"

Right on, Hiro! Now let's start off by getting...healed?

: "We'll just have to find another way to restore our health."

: "How will weary travelers refresh their spirits?"

: "I was just wondering that."

: "Well, the only option now if to visit the Sanctuary of Althena's Chosen. They have a statue of the Goddess on proud display, and it works just as well as this statue did. I just don't like entering the Sanctuary if I don't have to. It's a very strange place...

Through the town gates, we can snag a free Herb, which is nice because like gently caress am I gonna pay for healing at the Sanctuary.

: "It's a thingmabob called the Star Dragon Tower. Keep goin' and ya run into the Illusion Woods. Keep going through the Illusion Woods and ya run into the village of Takkar."

: "That sounds like a series of places that we will soon be going to."

: "They say the Star Dragon Tower ain't got no entrance, so ain't no one ever been inside."

: "Yeah, we are definitely going THERE!"

Hiro is basically a hillbilly, so I'm gonna say, no, he is not familiar with the most famous people on the planet.

: "Oh, goodie! I was hoping you'd say that, because I love reciting them!"

These people are all important and one of them is a fuckin' KUNG FU MASTER so you should probably remember their names.

At Ronfar's insistence, we scope out the tavern.

: "I just hope they bring Lord Leo in with them next time. That man is drop-dead gorgeous."

: "Sugarloaf, you'd sooner see Leo in a dress than see him willingly walk into a tavern."

Luckily, the guardsmen are happy to chat with us despite us technically being wanted criminals.

: "I have a hard time believing that such a cute girl is really a world-consuming monster, though. I dunno, I'm just glad I'm not Leo, because I'd hate to be the one who has to execute that cute girl."

: "I respect Lord Leo more than anyone else in this world, and that respect extends to his judgement. Do you really think the White Knight would send an innocent girl to her death?"

: "If she was truly a monster, she would have killed us when she used her powers on the Destiny but all she did was stun us. Yeah, it hurt, but I could tell she didn't mean to cause us any harm. Of course, you won't catch me saying these things to Leo. I value my life, thank you very much!"

: "This guy is my kinda guy."

: "Besides, Dalton isn't quite the way it used to be. I miss the old times...and my old friends. But you probably don't want to hear the pointless ramblings of a drunk old man. Heh, heh."

Hiro is a polite young man, and answers accordingly :colbert:

: "Really, now? Well, that's good to hear! Everyone else in this tavern tells me to shut up! Until a few years ago, Dalton was just a tiny fishing village. Most folks didn't even know it existed."

: "But that was just how we liked it. Everyone knew everyone else, and everyone helped everyone else. And at the end of the day, they came ehre to laugh together and cry together. It was wonderful."

: "The fishermen who lived in Dalton were fearless, but they always had respect for the sea. Whenever the weather would get ugly, their wives would come here and drink to mask their fear. And whenever a ship returned to port safely, a wave of joy would sweep through the town."

: "I'm starting to feel sad."

Let's see what else this town has to offer.

: "He's the captain of the Dragonship Destiny...and he can drop anchor in my port anytime!"

: "HA!"

: "I don't get it."

: "I always travel to Dalton when I know the Destiny is coming, so I can catch a glimpse of lovely Leo!"

: "I knew Leo was feared, but I didn't know he had groupies, too. Nice gig he's got!"

We have some silver burning a hole in our pocket, so let's hit up the shops.

Everything here is a clear upgrade to what we already have. The Long Sword will make Hiro lose the free third hit he gets from his knife, but the added damage is worthwhile. The flail is just all around good for Ronnie.

Also, I was wrong about shields. Only Hiro can use shields and helmets. Ronfar instead uses Bracelets and Bandannas, which are more stylish but provide less protection. As such, Hiro is our designated tank for the duration of the game.

It's a good idea to sell off old gear once its replaced, but I find myself hesitating about the Ancient Dagger. I mean, who knows how old this thing is. This is a priceless artifact given to us as a gift from our dear Grandfather. Can I really part with it for a paltry sum of coin?

YUUUUUUP!

The Item shop has some new stuff. A Vitality Vial cures quite a few status effects, and the Dragonfly Wings give us a free teleport out of a dungeon per use. We can also pick up Angel's Tears for a whopping 1000 silver a pop!

I just grab a few Dragonfly Wings and call it a day.

: "It tried to fool Leo by taking the shape of a beautiful girl, but he wasn't deceived! They say he defeated the monster with a single strike, and that the beast will be punished tomorrow."

: "I really don't like the way he said 'punished', Hiro! We have to save Lucia right away!"

Yeah, sure, as soon as we're done bothering random people for no reason.

It may be hard to tell because we're behind the text box, but we've barged into this house and started hassling this lady.

: "...and I'm very happy for them. I just wish The Chosen didn't place quite so many rules on themselves. And I don't understand why they ask for so much money. What is all that wealth being spent on?"

: "He's a wonderful leader, an honorable man, and the strongest of the Four Heroes!"

: "Leo might be strong, but what he's doing to Lucia is anything but honorable."

: "Okay, I promise."

: "You know that broken statue at the town entrance? I saw the guy who broke it! I did, I did! It was really dark, because I was playing after sunset even though Mommy tells me not to, but I saw the guy's clothes and he was wearing a big robe like the weirdos at the Sanctuary! Mommy and Daddy have friends at the Sacntuary so I haven't told 'em, 'cause they'd say I'm lying."

Interesting. The Chosen are becoming more and more shifty, but I am still skeptical that a religion in a JRPG could be anything less than trustworthy. Let's pop into the neighboring house.

: "He's very kind to his friends and totally relentless with his enemies. I hear that the White Knight has never allowed an evil deed to go unpunished! Isn't that great?"

Jeez, Ruby, it's almost like Leo's an authority figure and we're criminals! Shocking!

By the way, we rob these people.

Let's pop into the Sanctuary before we stage a jail break.

: "...has successfully captured Lucia the Destroyer! Perhaps now the people of Larpa will understand the power of the Goddess, and of the Guard."

Except for all those people who did not spot Ronfar's loaded dice, of course. Which leaves...that one bar maid?

: "The donations have been piling up at a rate I've never seen before. It's wonderful, but it's only because the statue of Althena at the town entrance was recently vandalized. I can't be happy when almost everyone else in Dalton is upset."

: "It is said that a terrible evil with the strength to destroy our world has been sealed within its walls."

Sounds like a great place to house the seat of the world's government! Good thinking, Althena!

: "I fell in love with the Goddess the first time I saw this statue. I mean, check her OUT, dude! I had to give up my career as a semi-pro wave-rider to join the Chosen, but it's cool, man. Now all I have to do is tell people that they should worship Althena. Totally easy to do, bro!"

: "And people wonder why I ditched this religion..."

We can also examine the statue, and even drop money for some healing (if you're an idiot). But more importantly, we can also say this:

then Hiro puts on shades and skateboards out of the room

When we're ready, we can cross the bridge and begin our daring raid on the Dragonship Destiny!

Battler, the literal stupidest man on earth. Why are you even here, Battler, why did you come back to this place so you could fuck literally everything up?
This gamer and the one before it are cliche-ridden and silly-rear end. God, I love them so... The localization was a special thing for both of them.

Oh, Working Designs, why did you leave us?

Because they were so bad with money that I think it qualified as a superpower.

I just bet Leo's all sulky that he captured the Destroyer without even getting to laser anything first.
