So I'm trying to play Ys Origins, and it just won't work my gamepad. I can get it to recognize input in the config menu, but as soon as I start the game nothing works. Anybody deal with something like this?

I'm using a PS3 controller via MotionInJoy.

e: Also, in the config I can't map movement to the gamepad, just the keyboard, but one problem at a time I guess.

In Origins, where are you supposed to go (as Yunica) after you get the Crimson Lotusblade?. I can't seem to figure it out.

e: Oh wow I'm dumb, nevermind.

e2: Alright, I'm dumb and I'm stuck again. How do I get through the evil corridor? I can get to the side-room with the Roo, but I have nothing to feed it.

The party line over at XSeed is still that they're translating SC, it's just a low priority and SC is goddamned huge. We should see it eventually, just not for a while.

e: We'll probably never see TC though.

It's not entirely spoiler-free (it has boss names and such), but this should do.

Is there anything wrong with the PSP version of Ys: I&II Chronicles compared to the PC version? I'd normally get the PC version, but I'm going to need a good handheld game to play soon.

The various No Kiseki games are somewhat notorious for being pretty wordy, so it's probably not a good idea to play one if you wouldn't really understand the narrative.

If you don't want to play them on a PSP though, the Trails in the Sky games are being released on Steam sometime this year.

(Trails in the Sky SC, unless you're talking about the text in which case probably the same but I obviously don't know for sure.)

Cake Attack
Mar 26, 2010

There's a bunch of prior Legend of Heroes games but they share no plot relation with Trails (although every LoH game afterwards is related to Trails.)

It's also basically the opposite of Ys in that it's a very dialogue and story heavy game. Story owns if you're at all fond of JRPG stuff though.

e: If you expand the list of user tags for the game on Steam the fourth highest is Winter 2013 which makes me laugh.

the thing about the third, as I understand it (which is pretty well because I care way too much about this series) is that it basically exists to explore the setting to set up later games in the series, and thus leaves things really open-ended. unless they want to commit to localizing the rest of the series, SC is basically the last chance for them to jump ship since it's the only game that doesn't really leave loose ends.

You can also just right click it with a mouse.

Not the most elegant solution, but it works well enough.

Cake Attack
Mar 26, 2010

Yeah it's hardly ideal, but it seems on some/most setups you need to stay below 1080p and in fullscreen mode.

Cake Attack

Ahaha I only just now actually read that.

If you can't use the original Japanese voices for licensing reasons, just hire a different group of Japanese people to dub it. I don't think I've ever seen someone so blatantly admit they just think Japanese is a plain better language

You get a quartz for having max BP over just being first class. Presumably a pretty good quartz, but it hardly seems essential.

e: For any curious, the rewards are:

Third Class: Robot Arms (+Str/Def accesory)
Second Class: Robot Arms, Full Revive item (can't remember what they call these again.)
First Class: Robot Arms, Full Revive, Proxy Puppet (keeps you alive if you die, then breaks.)
Max: Robot Arms, Full Revive, Proxy Puppet, Luck quartz.

There was an anime OVA at some point.

Have they fixed resolutions above 1080p/windowed for everyone? Or are you not including those as the worst of the bugs, since the game runs fine as long as you stay fullscreen/below 1080p?

I'm genuinely curious, because mine's always been fine at above 1080p so I can't test.

Also, I doubt I would have noticed if I didn't have the game's script halfway memorized from the doing my Lp, but there's a decent amount of changed lines in Chapter 4. Nothing that changes the plot or anything, but a lot of scenes read better.

Yeah, Shining Poms are Metal Slimes. You can only kill them by using S-Crafts or instant death effects.

The bounties from the guild are in a fixed location; you can recognize them because they're stationary and when you approach them you'll be given the option to fight them or to ignore them.

The Pine Plant is in the west most zone of Milch Road, just before the Verte Checkpoint.
