So I've had allergies to cats my whole life. Recently, though, I've had less problems than in the past, so I really want to adopt a kitty. I don't really have the funds to be sure that my kitty would get the care it needs if it ever got sick or whatever so I've put it off for a while now.

A few weeks ago I found out about the ASPCA foster program. They basically give you sick, pregnant mothers, kittens or adult cars requiring hospice care. And cover EVERYTHING. food, litter, medical, and transportation. which is key in NYC. I went through the process and eventually was able to get a cat of my own. Her name is Coram, And she has mammary cancer :(. But she's the sweetest most cuddly cat ever, And even though she won't be here forever I'm going to document as much as I can because I love her already.

Her disposition is that of a cat that's been coddled and loved its whole life yet she's been a shelter cat her whole life. It's bizarre but the ideal situation For somebody who's never owned a cat Before and just wants to experience the love and independence of a cat.

She sits on my lap while I watch tv/play video games.

Also do to my lurking of this forum I've always known about the scratch lounge and I got her one today. And she is obsessed.

She's such a nice girl.

You're doing a wonderful thing and she looks like she's enjoying every second of her new life :unsmith:

I really hope you post more pictures of her in the future! She is a beautiful kitty.

This is funny because cats can't taste sweet. So he just likes the sour flavor? I used to have a cat (named Booker T. Looker T. Babycakes Bean) who liked peppermint, including toothpaste. You'd have to put your toothbrush in the cupboard or he would chew on it.

Mint is closely related to catnip :science:

It's not normal behavior for a cat to pant like a dog, but it's possible that the cat was just playing hard; panting like that is how they cool off. It could also possibly be over-stimulated or frightened, or overheated. If it happened for just a short time and was not repeated it would probably not be causse for worry, but if the cat continued panting for a long time, or many times, it should be checked out by a vet to rule out possible serious underlying causes.

edit: honestly though, from the look on his face I would guess he was playing and/or running around a lot having fun.

Further evidence supporting the "played too hard" theory:

IMDB posted:

Originally, Queen Elsa was intended to be the villain of the story. However, when the character's major song, "Let it Go," was played for the producers, they concluded that the song was not only very appealing, but its themes of personal empowerment and self-acceptance were too positive for a villain to express. Thus, the story was rewritten to have Elsa as an isolated innocent who is alarmed upon learning that her powers are inadvertently causing harm and struggles to control her powers with Anna's help.

Wild foxes shouldn't be kept as pets, no. People do, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea or that the foxes make good pets, since they're still wild animals no matter how tame they seem. There is however a group in Russia who started domesticating foxes as an experiment ~50 years ago. These foxes are different from wild foxes and are sold as pets (but even then they're much different from normal pets in terms of what you need to properly keep them and in laws about their ownership).

Sloths are great. They seem so benign (I was going to say gentle, but those claws are pretty sharp and infection capable from what I understand) and chill. I don't think I've ever seen a sloth that didn't just seem like it wanted to hang out. Also, how can you dislike an animal that smiles at you?

I don't know about the claws, but I got to pet some sloths once in college and their eyesight is so bad that anything you hold in front of them they just grab and try to eat (slowly). So you could probably get bitten by a sloth if you were really slow.
