Do not try and score on the powerplay. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.

What truth?

There is no powerplay.

Huge DFA fan, honestly bought tickets to see them thinking they'd kill it opening for NIN/QOTSA. Misprinted times on the tickets meant a nearly empty arena while they played. They also appeared to only have the stage monitors plugged in. :flaccid:

Then QOTSA. First time seeing them live. Wasn't a big fan going in, was absolutely floored and certainly a fan leaving.

Yeah, didn't have time at that time to really reply. But they all started with NIN doing "Copy of a...", where Josh walked out on stage about 1/3 into that song. Dave Grohl was hiding behind some screens playing the drums as well. After that song was pretty much finished (they dropped a lot of lyrics, skipped over some sections of the song), they went right into My God Is The Sun.

They also dropped some lyrics and some of the instrument only parts (think how the music video was versus how the song is on the album). However, about halfway into the song they got an airplay commercial just stealing the whole picture while the song continued to play muffled below that. They came back to the concert with the credits over the screen, and then cut to an advertisement cutting the song off entirely. Trent took it to Twitter.

Old Town Road to EGOT

The funniest part of them getting cut off was that the show ended about two seconds before the song was supposed to end. Like they couldn't even be bothered to air the last couple seconds of the song.

It should be noted that, for the part where you could hear the song and they were rolling credits over top of it, the video was a wide shot of the entire venue, with the credits centered over basically where the stage was. So you got to hear the last part of it, but you couldn't see anything.

It sounded like they cut off basically the last note. Which seems just extra dickish.

For anyone who wanted to see an uncut version of their Grammy performance, here's the rehearsal footage which is way better than what was televised:

Nine Inch Nails play Copy Of A with Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and Lindsey Buckingham first, and then it almost immediately turns into My God Is The Sun.

I was at the Hard Rock in Orlando last night. The set list was amazing and the crowd was great.

I thought being at a smaller venue would mean a little less crowd activity, but there was dancing, moshing, and crowd surfing. It was a fantastic concert.

Queens was a fuckin religious experience, and I was extremely impressed with NIN coming from a non-fan. They know how to put on a fuckin show. Was really disappointed they didn't do something like Kalopsia as a joint-encore though. Like why have a collaboration like that and tour together but not play that song? Ah well, was an excellent gig either way.

It's a brilliant album. Definitely my favourite by them.

As some what of a Mark Lanegan cheerleader, I was excited to hear he used to be in Queens of the Stone Age. All I know about that band is that they had a music video with Dave Grohl. I'm pretty disappointed so far, his vocals mesh better with the folksy sound like on Whiskey for the Holy Ghost.

Haha nah, I was just thinking with all the talk of Josh's substance abuse past and how it almost killed him after his medical troubles, it's funny that he puts out this video. Fits in with the Rated R vibe and liner notes
