It's a known issue that we were never really able to fix. If your game somehow isn't 1.08 then update it to that and if it is then you might just have to replay the chapter again with the Japanese dat files then switch them back after saving.

Just wound up switching back and forth between the ENG and JP dat files, thanks. Didn't think that it was an issue with the TL patch

Yeah, the game is programmed in such a way that changing th text can screw up a lot if things. That's one of the reasons so many things are left untranslated.

I'm guessing they didn't use Unicode, and that was only the start of your problems.

More likely, they only allocated enough memory to fit the Japanese text, or they based some triggers around Japanese text speed.

It's probably something in the exe which we can't edit and causes us all sorts of fun problems. In the third game sometimes text in game would change, specifically sometimes Keine would be written as KeineH. We had no idea why and kinda threw our hands up while grumbling about the exe intil one day where I decided to comb through it. This happens because the game wants to check to use the Keine portrait or the werecow Keine portrait. If she is transformed then it runs a find and replace for Keine to KeineH because the portraits are labeled like Keine01a: and KeineH01a: and are defined in the same file as the rest of the chapters text.

I wish I could say I'd never do something like that even if I didn't think anyone else would ever see it, but I'd be lying.

How did you get around it? Did they include a way to escape it, or did you just chuck a non-printing character in the middle of her name and hope for the best, or what?

But the delivery is a bit stiff, the grammar is a bit off, and there are typos here and there.

Internet stalking the guy listed in the credits, he seems to be a Korean who's also a native speaker of Japanese. Most of his translation experience is Japanese-to-Korean. So he's a professional translator, just not one who's as used to working in English.

The English translation is serviceable. It's not what I would call good by any stretch of the word, but I was kind of expecting worse to be honest.

Then again TasoFro presumably paid for, so you'd probably want a translation you can say better things about than "is in English".
