It's sad that the halfassed MangaCorps loke from 98 did a better job at capturing the nuance if the bucket than the official 2010-era script did.

Timely! I’m assuming the pictures are randomly matched to the actual New Yorker headlines? Some are keepers, some seem definitely random. Either way it’s the best thing I’ve seen on Twitter in ages.

Yup, you got it in one. Though, yeah, it doesn’t take long before you start noticing some titles repeating themselves more than others.

I'm at episode 24 of the original series of my first ever complete viewing of this interesting mess. Is it worth watching Death (True)2 before continuing on to the end of evangelion?
The descriptions say it's just a recap?

It is a recap but I've always been a fan of it because it's edited really well and has some new content that is used as a framing device that I think are interesting. It's not something you'd need to kick yourself over for missing but I usually watch it when I rewatch the series and movies.

Personally I think it’s hosed and schizo (that’s Eva!), but I can definitely see how others might like it.

You’ll know five or ten minutes in if you want to continue.

No I’m just preparing. poo poo is hitting the fan so I can see myself doing those 2 episodes in 1 sitting and I want to continue watching after that.

I’m going to watch it then. It’s only an hour and this series is simultaneously extremely dense and very sparse. It manages to bore me and intrigue me at the same time so getting a decent recap before the end will probably be very helpful.

Never really thought of it this way but this is a very interesting way to look at it! Want to it on my next rewatch.

In the last decade and a half I've sorta observed that most first time watchers are recommended to watch the series with the directors cut episodes only, and to jump straight to EoE after 26, and I believe this is also what Netflix basically does. I've found that this has sorta hosed people's understanding and warped the impression of the production with odd little quirks like 24DC's next episode preview being an animatic for Air instead of 25TV, leading people to literally believe that the episode was re-written within a week, among other misconceptions.

I'm not suggesting everyone should watch the on-air 1-26, 21-24 DCs, one of the three Deaths, the laserdisc/blu-ray version of Rebirth, then EoE; but I wish there was a more concise way for people to get it all cleanly without having to go all in.

You should watch them in Evangelion since they start to fall apart in the mid-late teens and you can watch the production fall apart in real time.

Which is also why I'd half-suggest watching the pre-2003 releases too because the remasters slip in some DC clean-ups into "on-air" episodes.

Get ready for blasphemy:

When I did a rewatch with someone who never saw the series before, I had them watch 1-24 and EoE and that's it. I just summed up 25 & 26 for them and we skipped em.
