I figure you'll never, ever have a reason to go behind the enemy base, so it'd probably be there.

So it really was just out in the middle of goddamned nowhere, huh? As a matter of fact, once I posted my guess I tried to look up the answer to see if I was right, and all the guides I could find outright said there was no wandering monster to be found in this mission :psyduck:

There is a monster, and it is in the top right corner of the map.

Unlike Yugi being dragged along by the power of friendship, Kaiba is all business and is way too smart for this poo poo. He even realizes that MMOs don't actually have endings, unlike Mokuba.

Now if only he'd be smart enough to not keep trying experimental prototypes that his obviously skeezy employees/former employees have rigged up... this is like the third time this has happened to him, isn't it?

That was mostly an anime thing they'd do any time they wanted filler (it's virtual! That means it doesn't have to ever be mentioned or be important again!). But yeah Kaiba is forever being kidnapped into virtual worlds for no reason.

Yes, that is clearly too goofy. Only the original series in which an ancient pharoah plays card games with a billionaire artist who loves cartoons is pure and mature enough for my tastes.

Is that a main character with goofy circus-themed animals as cards?
I may consider giving this a try if I find a decent english version.

Yes. His motivation is that he wants to entertain people with goofy hijinks and pratfalls. That's it.
