Wolfe raised an eye at the now mounted Francine and her bombastic antics. "I think it might be challenging to manage a faster pace than a trot in NINAs interior corridors." He replied with an irreverent smile as he leaned back on the wall. "And do you plan to pilot while mounted?" Wolfe added in that same smile. "I digress though. I am Wolfe Arhawk, pilot of the VCFr-Mk.eX7B (pronounced vee see frame, mark ex seven bee) NOX, colloquially code named Night Hound. I specialise in covert operations and battlefield control." Wolfe says introducing himself and then stands up. He takes a coin out of his pocket and gives it a flick into the air. When Wolfe continues speaking, NINA cannot hear him and his mouth does not move. "I also have certain abilities. I would hope that you understand that these are classified and not to be mentioned to those outside of this room or who already know. I have been assured that this is covered under the Ideal Guardians prerogative and I mention it simply so that you are prepared for them should I need to use them." As the coin fell in front of his eyes it hovered, continuing to spin for a couple of seconds before he put out his hand and it dropped into it, heads facing up.

In the Pacific? At best there would be islands, but even so... "How many of our units can operate under water and how many do not possess flight capabilities?" He asked thinking about the terrain of the area and what they would be dealing with. It would be a hard battle, they had so little intel on the alien forces beyond a hostile intent.

"Hmm, we should be ready to rescue them although there is a fairly obvious capacity for a trap." Wolfe commented as he listened to the transmission. "NINA, can you provide us any more visual information as we approach? I'm going to get ready to launch but we should be able to patch it into the Hound." He added and began to move out of the room, carefully stepping around the horse.

Wolfe got into the Hound the normal way. He was tempted to cheat a little but it wasn't good to show off, it would be best to keep the others guessing. After he finished the startup sequence and integrated into the Night Hound's neural net he activated the comms. "Arhawk here, Hound is leaving the kennel." He said and the Night Hound took off and flew out and down to investigate the ship and the surrounding islands. To someone else watching it looked like the Night Hound flew directly down to the water, but as it got close Wolfe deployed some of his Bits and sent them out. They had small cameras to help with targeting and positional awareness, which he'd use to scout the surrounding areas on top of his own abilities. He opened his mind to see what other minds he could sense in the area...

"Longwei be careful, I am sure there are no people down there. Someone is spoofing our sensors, I can't sense any people at all. Everything points to this being a trap, be prepared to disengage and engage in combat." Wolfe cautioned but did not try to discourage Longwei further. In truth he would have suggested one of them continue through anyway, although with a mind to making the motions and deceiving whomever was hiding in wait.

Wolfe groaned to himself "You're absolutely right Miss Francine, I am just trying to warn you about a likely trap. Please be careful and be ready to defend yourself at any moment. Something is ghosting our sensors and lying in ambush." Wolfe said over their shared comms to make sure everyone else could listen in. It seemed like some of them were listening in to private comm channels, which was concerning given they ought to be encrypted.

"Mister...Supa-51." Wolfe began with a slight pause to compose himself over directly addressing such a ridiculous name which he sincerely hoped was just a call sign. "As I am not a member of the AUG I myself am in fact, a foreign champion, as you so delightfully put it." He continued in a slightly droll tone. The man was like a big kid who hadn't grown with his body. Well, at least that was the outward facing side. If that was really all there was to it then he had a charming and slightly infectious enthusiasm that Wolfe was sure would eventually at times be somewhat grating. It was however not enough to really dislike him for though.

Wolfe decided to keep the Night Hound above the water for the time being. There were no visible surface enemies nearby and if the enemy was underwater then they would be operating with sonar and not visual sensors. Assuming there was no orbital surveillance then his precise location should be unknown to the enemy submerged.

The Night Hound surged forwards as it began to move to engage in combat. Wolfe's first actions were to deliberately miss the units underwater from above the surface, to create a sense of overconfidence that he could not hit them. While he fired a measured amount of shots, remaining careful to balance conception with energy usage, he deployed the majority of his bits and began moving them into position while the enemy focused on his attack. The end result was to set up a situation where he could fire on the enemy without them predicting it.

Wolfe looked at the readouts as he dived, the enemy had deployed mines. It was an effect denial tactic underwater and the enemy was deep enough that attacking from the surface of the ocean was not an option. He'd need to clear them, as NINA opened her barrage, he noted that directly teleporting in would be a dangerous tactic. Also it would be good to keep it as a surprise. Wolfe spoke over the comms; "It's time for a little spring cleaning." He said and opened the acceleration gauges, using his linked telekinetic power to reduce the water drag. He dashed in to quickly disable the mines before he could react, and in doing so nearly ran into the detonation range of one...

"Night Hound, beginning attack operation." Wolfe transmitted and began to move forwards. He made a few shots at the mines in front of him, as if he was going to break through like last time. However as he fired he opened up the ZPEC to full and began to bridge space into the midst of the enemy. Right after he fired another shot he punched the bridge to full power and shifted. Right into the unsuspecting enemy ranks.

Wolfe really didn't like the name, it certainly wasn't his idea but instead one of the more romantic scientists assigned to the project. He was not a religious person and didn't feel the need to plaster the mech with mythological or cultural motifs. He'd struggled hard enough to not have it called Anubis after all...

His pyschokinetic powers flared up and channelled through the Night Hound, reaching out to the Bit and supercharging them along with the suit. At this point the Night Hound was being moved as much by his own powers as by drive systems. He whirled around in a quick dance, firing from different angles with the bits as he set up openings with his own attacks. It was an impressive assault, although it drained him substantially and he could not perform it twice consecutively.

Wolfe allowed himself a single moment of rest after the attack and the enemy's defeat. Moving the Bits through water had been tough, he was now starting to feel quite tired. He gathered the bits into the Night Hound and flew above the surface of the water.

"NINA, do you have any sonar drones? I'd like to know if anyone else is out there." He asked over the comm channels as he waited for everyone to get ready and aboard. Then he docked the Night Hound and finished doing some checks. There was some superficial damage, but nothing serious and the technicians on NINA would be able to sort out the dings and dents.

"Anyone need me before I go to the hydroponics?" He asks the group as they all disengaged from the respective machines. The hydroponics had been installed on his request, and were able to grow a lot of different plants. Wolfe didn't just enjoy growing flowers, small trees both fruit, flowering and non-flowering along with vegetables all gave him a simple calming joy. Plants were after all quite and peaceful.

Wolfe gave a quick glance at their prisoner. He wanted to ask some questions later, but his mind needed a rest for now.

Wolfe walked to the holding area where the prisoner was being held. The holding bays were fairly plain, a single simple bed with facilities held behind a forcefield. The barrier hummed as the blue energy separated the prisoner in the cell from the mech they'd recovered sat there watching him. The man was not uniformed, which to Wolfe's eyes made it harder to identify if he was from the Pact or the Empire. Well, no matter. He'd find out what was going on soon enough.

"Please, stand up. I'd like to have a small discussion with you." Wolfe said in a deceptively casual voice, that casualness used by those in a position of power who are making only a bare effort to appear as though they won't abuse that power. The prisoner, of indeterminable Asian background, naturally did not obey. Wolfe continued speaking pleasantly to the man who sat on his bunk and continued to watch him with a neutral and wary expression. "These forcefields are quite impressive. It is quite impossible for anything to penetrate them while they are active." Wolfe continued pleasantly and without warning quickly drew out his blaster and shot at the forcefield. The energy sparked a little and the blue wall rippled an annoyed orange for a few moment. The prisoner had jumped in surprise, as had the jail-keeper who was now glaring at Wolfe rather pointedly. Naturally Wolfe ignored the man and continued. "You're quite lucky you know, I'm very annoyed with you right now and it is fortunate for you I am not able to take my considerable vexation out on your person." He continued and smiled pleasantly, again just like only those in a position of power can. "You see you didn't appear on my sensors. Oh no, I don't mean your stealth screens. Please, that sort of technology is hardly uncommon now, no I mean my other senses." The last two words were whispered into the man's mind. Again, for a moment, there was an expression of shock and surprise. "Ah I see you understand now."

Then Wolfe opened his telekinetic powers and yanked the man up by his collar. With quick and sharp pulls on his clothing he pulled the man over to the forcefield so that he was facing him. The guard was now staring in surprise at the man's odd movements. Wolfe smiled a little less pleasantly this time. "Now, isn't it fortunate I cannot physically harm you. This wall does stop me from touching you with my hands or from shooting you after all. But I wonder, perhaps your thoughts will give you away? It would be very unpleasant if I had to wade through your memories, step by step to find what I was looking for. That would be very difficult for me and well, I'm unsure if you'd recover from the mental trauma. But I have a mission, a mission so great that I must be prepared to put aside such trivialities as 'prisoner rights' and 'morals'. So, we have two options here. You can tell me what I want to know. You can tell me how you blocked my scans, and I assure you I people of my sort are fairly rare if I am not unique, so I know it was done to block me. You can tell me who knew I would be coming and what you were doing around that vessel. Or I can take that information from you. It's your choice, do chose wisely."

It was all an act, Wolfe would never actually violate a man's mind like that and the mere thought of doing so made him feel sick. But he'd covered interrogation techniques so that he could learn to protect himself against them and as long as the prisoner believed you were willing to do anything you said you were, then that was often enough to give them cause to talk.

He winked at the gaol master making the man even more confused and walked out of the room, to leave whomever else wished to ask the man questions to talk to him. Wolfe meanwhile went over to the mech the man had been piloting and decided to investigate this new 'neural' interface. He needed to figure out if he could sense it somehow instead if it was going to cover up the mental signals of its pilot. Everything gave off some kind of tell-tale signal after all. Wolfe glanced at the newcomer. Odd, he hadn't been expecting anyone new. Wolfe accepted that IG was an extra-military operation and that there were a lot of secrets further up, but a little warning would have gone a long way. "There's no one to..." But the man had passed on and he blinked. Instead he went to check on Francine as she seemed to have been somewhat unnerved by the experience.

"So, tell how does that make you feel?" He says, steepling his fingers together in the manner of a 20th century psychologist. "Do you want to talk about it any?" He added on a more serious note. They couldn't really afford to have pilots going of half-cocked about some personal problem. Wolfe didn't really get the whole nobility and knight thing, but it was important to her.

He nodded and smiled a little, enough to seem just friendly and understanding but not too much as so to appear insensitive. "I understand, I am similar myself. However one of my instructors gave me an important lesson once. We are soldiers. It's not something you can turn off and on like a light switch. We are soldiers when we step off of the field, and soldiers when we step on it. What we take with us we keep with us. Don't let it weigh you down. As long as you do your best when you can, and try to learn from your mistakes, that's all you can do." He said as he remembered that particular instructor. The guy had been a brilliant manipulator of people, but despite that his words had meaning regardless.

"Oh, have you heard any news of newcomers? I was not aware of our new associate before he arrived." Wolfe had been sort of ignoring Ten's presence so far, he had not asked the man to tag along and it irritated him in some small way. It was probably the reminder he hadn't known he'd be coming. Maybe Francine had been informed beforehand.

Wolfe avoided scowling a little, keeping his face pleasant and polite. He did not dislike the newcomers, more that he had been caught by surprise. Wolfe preferred to be in control of a situation and not controlled by it when he could.

"ISP mechs seemed to be using a neural feedback device. A crude and less efficient version of technology I've used myself." Which was not a lie because he wasn't currently using the Night Hound, which used the telekinetic feedback system. It translated the forces he used directly onto the appropriate levels of the mech. Instead of thinking about something and making it happen, Wolfe just made it happen as he wished. It was more tiring though and the risk of feedback overload from the sensors was greater. "Because they were shunting impulses into the machines they didn't show up like I expected. I should expect it next time. As for what the ISP was doing there, well, the prisoner seemed to believe that it was to sink the battleship. I'm sure he's telling the truth as he knows it, but it still seems kind of fishy to me. Where was the rest of the Empire's fleet? Wouldn't a vessel that size have an escort or at least some kind of defense against smaller strike teams like the one we fought? The Empire of Heaven isn't run by fools, and neither are their military."

Wolfe gave a brief outline of what the interrogation had revealed, which wasn't a lot beyond what he had just told them.

As the others left, Wolfe remained behind and considered things for a few minutes. Was there more going on here? It was possible, but there were simpler explanations and Occam's Razor wasn't a bad philosophy to apply to the situation. He would know in an hour, or at least have an idea of what to do next.

Instead Wolfe left and journeyed to the hydroponics. It had been substantially less sophisticated and large before Wolfe had insisted on modifications to allow him to grow more plants and in a larger area. Trees were a little beyond its capabilities, but shrubs were possible and he had lots of vegetable gardens. Fresh food did a lot for morale after all.

Plants also didn't think, it was a quiet and calm place for him to centre himself.

"Calm down Francine, we're in a Psiscape at the moment. There are some abnormalities in this one, but for lack of an easier explanation think of it like a dream made up of a persons subconsciousness. Things won't work the way the think they should, but there will be an internal Lambda constant that they will match up to. Hemley must have been caught up in an Encephalic dive as well, if I'd chosen the same subject we might have been able to rescue him. We need to find the Egotistic Locus, the core of the Psiscape's composition. That will be where the source of the scape will be and I can perform a Psi-shunt and eject us from the Psiscape." There was a slight chuckle over the comms. "If I was going to bring Francine somewhere, it'd be nicer than this. No this was the Imperial crew's doing, although how or why the Empire is playing around with Psitech is beyond me. It takes a lot of careful planning and DNA alteration to create a person with a viable Psi Expression factor. If the Empire is doing it en mass that might explain why the battleship was targeted." Wolfe did a good job of keeping the concern and trouble he felt out of his voice though. It'd taken decades and millions of dollars to create him. How had the Empire done it so easily? Or was the placement of that ship really as fishy as it had felt to him. Maybe the Psiscape would provide some answers.

Certainly the fact that his fellow members of the team were so unreliable and distrusting did not make him feel very comfortable about the Ideal Guardian program. Wolfe decided that since everything in the world appeared to be in the ground, that he would not attempt to fly and instead made his way on the ground. "Keep an eye out, it's possible we'll find Hemley in here although I will be surprised if we do." He added after he'd thought on the matter a little. "That's difficult to say. Maybe, maybe not. We can find out!" Wolfe replies quickly in response to Ten.

Wolfe released the R-Bits from the Night Hound and sent them into the mouth. It would have been a dangerous move normally, but Wolfe was operating under the assumption that the Night Hound he was in was merely an extension of his ego in this psyscape. He needed to quickly stop the mouth before it continued to speak though, so he sent the bits to quickly attack nerves within the giant mouth. Wolfe's aim was to damage some of them and prevent the mouth from speaking properly, or hopefully, at all.

Trying to quickly apply the consequence Numbed Mouth!

Tagging the aspect I applied last turn, going in stealthily: 11:12 AM <Krysmbot> HiKaizer, ++/- +5 = 6

Wolfe was not entirely surprised when the enemy used psychological warfare against him. They had been in a mental space and the enemy clearly could interact with their minds, it was a logical conclusion to assume that they would be able to tap into their troubles and fears. So he acted his part, pretending to be stunned by the revelation and left his bits to drift. However they drifted into a very specific set of locations. Right as they arrived Wolfe revved up the Night Hound and fired his weapons, while broadcasting a warning to the group.

"We're in a mental battlefield, don't let the enemy's mind tricks get to you." He said as he attacked the mouth in the place where he'd numbed the nerves. If he could just damage it enough to stop speaking...then they'd have a chance. But he needed to hurry, they were beginning to be swamped by the superego of this psyscape.
