Hell Gem

I can't actually remember what my original username was. I think it was 'nrrgh' or something similar.

Anyway, I posted in a FYAD namechange thread in about 2003 and it was changed to 'DICK IN rear end'.

Feeling dissatisfied, I posted in the next namechange thread that appeared. My username was promptly changed to 'HUGE DICK IN rear end'.

A few years later, Livestock changed it to the much more charitable 'gallop w/a boner', and i've been gallop w/a boner ever since.

One Hundred Years of Solitude is probably my favorite novel. I've read it at least four times in both English and Spanish and not wanting to use the regular handle I have on the internet I decided to make use of it for SA. The change from solitude to attitude comes from an afternoon of creating stupid pun-based book titles with my girlfriend, which also gave us "For Whom the Bell Rock and Rolls" and "Anna Wouldn't-want-to-be-her" amongst many other dumb ones (I said they were stupid). I used the One Hundred Years of Solitude one because being an internet forum I felt that the username should be a bit silly and not so serious. Maybe I'll see the day where I regret having it.

For what it's worth it is a great book.

Someone once told me, "Time is a flat circle".

I used a random name generator when registering for some old online version of Axis & Allies back in like 2001 when I was in high school. LogisticEarth came up and I figured it sounded cool enough and wasn't likely to be used by someone else. I have now been using it for like 12 years. I thought about coming up with something more "meaningful" but it's an internet handle so who cares. It's unique enough that people can recognize me between various forums/games.

The principles expressed in the martial arts make up the backbone of my philosophy.

Two of my interests are Catholic Systematic Theology and Chinese Religions (mostly Buddhism and Daoism.) Having a great love for Daoist thought I was incredibly intrigued by the fact that John 1 in the Chinese bible translates the word "Logos" as "Dao." This means that it is religiously true and relevant to the Catholic faith, in some way, to say that the Dao became flesh. Hence, Incarnate Dao.

I had a cat named Ricky. A more in-depth explanation is that Ricky was born about a week before I was with a heart defect and was given maybe 2-3 years before he would die. He survived being run over by a car, shot in the head with a BB gun, and I believe a brick falling on him. Also survived me during my terrible 2's. He finally passed away after 9 years of life giving him the middle finger. He had been with me every day, slept in my crib when I was a baby, would greet me at the door after school, comforted me when I was going through kid woes, and was generally a chill-as-gently caress ball of fur that loved being around everyone. I created the username when I was 11-12 and I wasn't the most imaginative kid.

Here he is being chill-as-gently caress while I drool and such:

aleph null the first infinite cardinal and the set of all natural numbers.
As a high schooler, I stumbled across a book called One, Two, Three ... Infinity by George Gamow. Nobody had checked it out in 15 years, but I proceeded to check it out over and over again because it was awesome.
One of the many things that fascinated me was the idea that there were different infinities. aleph null is the smallest infinity.

It's s literary reference. I was standing in line at a bookstore/cafe that had staff picks of used books up front. One of them was some kind of annual anthology of sci-fi short stories. I skimmed one of them and the protagonist referred to another character as a "freelance socialist" for stealing something he needed but couldn't afford.

Call of the wild had a mean ol dog names Solleks, which meant "the angry one." I had a lot of anger management issues growing up so when my 12 year old brain heard it, I stuck to it. Heard is the key word. I had no loving idea how to actually spell it.

The other one I had was judeophobia. But I kept getting banned from different games and forums because they said it was offensive.

The guild exploded in drama a year or so later, but I liked the name and have used it as my internet pseudonym ever since.

I wanted a self-deprecating and punning username. It seemed like the thing to do. So without much thought, I registered a name that punned on "house mouse" but involved an even more worthless and loathsome animal.

Ferrous (from the Latin ferrum) actually refers to iron, not steel. Hence iron's chemical symbol being Fe.
