I just like that no one really stops to give a thought to the fact that Asahi almost committed incest I'm also sure we needed the scene where a bunch of people apparently cared about his mom enough to leave flowers but also call her a drunk whore Aces all around Tsukuda

He could have just done the medaka box ending and everyone would be happy.

You know I'm kind of glad the epilogue turned towards the super terrible. The first chapter gave me some optimism, and if the epilogue was good after that horrible final arc then I'd be conflicted. Now I can just pretend the manga ended after the Elite Ten arc and everything works out!

Spoilers: Open-ended, pretty much no one is officially with anybody it looks like. Souma's mom had a heart condition that should've gotten better but didn't, and she passes away. Erina and Souma having feelings for eachother is kinda hinted at, most of the students are running restaurants or whatever, series ends with Souma serving Erina his latest dish. Hayama has a wedding ring but nothing is said about who he married. No pairs are confirmed at all. Edit: Yeah basically confirmed. I can't tell if that's better or worse than Naruto's "everyone hooked up and banged" last chapter. It is hard to make something worse though so I will wait and see. Maybe it's better to be open ended.

Did Soma's grandfather just suddenly appear? I don't remember ever seeing or hearing about him before. Props for being the first manga to come back with an epilogue that boils down to, "And nothing ever changed. Except some people got haircuts." Also, gently caress you for having Ashai suddenly start talking about his cute little sister.

If you cut out Asahi then this would've been a really nice post-Azami wrap-up chapter. I liked the 80's style "they went on to do so and so" montage. I didn't care for Azami but the food and characters were still good IMO. I felt like the whole Asahi arc was just both creepy and ultimately a waste of time on the level of Bleach's final arc given how poo poo both the food and the new antagonists were.

It is funny that this was essentially part romantic comedy and played up that "find someone you want to cook for" line then did basically almost nothing with it. Not even a confession. Souma's goals of beating his dad and making Erina say his cooking is delicious were never accomplished. Not even after a ten year time skip.
