I'm back to listening to the show now that I have a job that lets me, and I must say the story of Ray being with Chris's ladyfriend and the reveal of how Snake dealt with it was loving gold. I still don't get why everyone hates bryan though, I think he brings more good than bad. Also Baldywood is probably something adam wants more than Bryan.

Guys I can't believe you totally forgot the option that it could be a good book. Good enough to work on its own merits and then people will buy it because it's good. I mean, it's BALD BRYAN'S book. It'll be at least as funny as Adam's and far more clever than his for sure. Plus I wonder when Alison sees the dollars roll in how long it'll take her to finish her book. Also was Strausers book any good? Amazon seemed to like it.

Depending on what it's about, her book might be funny. She's got some good stories from her career that she never gets a chance to tell on the show. I"m not saying that she doesn't have the skill, not at all. I'm saying she doesn't have the will. From everything I've heard of her over the years, I can't imagine her actually doing it. ON that note, she can't even decide on what picture to go with for her podcast, and is being neurotic over that. That's why I'm saying there's no way she actually finishes a book anytime soon. Honestly? I'd be pretty upset if I couldn't tell my wife of 10~ years that I don't prefer white fish without her freaking the gently caress out, I'd be rather upset over the whole thing. I get that context can go a long way to skew the argument in either direction, but in that sense she's being dramatic. WampaLord posted:Man, who could have seen this coming? Are you talking about LA? Because the city of Los Angeles is an entirely different beast in every way. Absolutely every way. I currently live in Albuquerque, and if someone said that about ABQ I'd raise question, but in LA gently caress no people are the worst there. Also I don't like hearing his rants repetitively, but I do like listening to what he has to say about his conservative views. I honestly do believe though that a lot of the issues come from people really not understanding that most super successful people are working 80-100 hour weeks, and resentment comes from that.

WampaLord posted:Dude, I live in LA. For all the talk people say about how LA is different from everywhere else, it's really not. People are just as friendly as anywhere else, it's just assholes like Adam who spark this kind of reaction. Have you been to LA for more than a weekend, or are you forming your opinion based off conjecture you've heard from other people? I won't argue the LA point, but in my personal experience and most others, but the people in LA as a whole are shittier than anywhere else I've lived. This is my experience and most other's I know. On the other point though, you may or may not argue what constitutes work, but you honestly believe that he's having a 40-60 hour work week while being on 4 podcasts of his own, writing a book, doing his O'reilly thing, making a movie, doing all the spots/promotions he has to do, doing tour dates AT LEAST every other weekend, AND running a wine company? Sitting and doing the podcasts alone are 20 hours a week. I'm not saying that anyone can become a literal millionaire, but I would safely bet that the lion share of people who are literal millionaires on average have 60+ hour work weeks.

WampaLord posted:Are you referring to people who are in the industry, or just people in general? Because I really don't understand this idea that somehow the people in LA are worse than everywhere else in America. I forgot to answer the first part also. I've been to LA for longer than a weekend, and I used to travel there about once a month. Everyone in the hospitality industry is just shittier to deal with, and there's an attitude of being put upon anytime I would ask for something reasonable. On the other side of the coin, the people I had to deal with were all the rudest loving people and never tipped. I used to deliver and install medical equipment, moving around gigantic metal things and chairs, and people in LA would not tip. People in San Diego would, and were nice about it, but you hit LA and you're just another cog in their day. I've had A-list celebrities even loving stiff me. I've only ever been flipped off in LA, and gently caress if I even knew at the time why it happened. I don't know what you're asking specifically with "worse than everywhere else in america", but I can certainly attest for the west coast. Are you implying that all americans are the same, or that LA's issues are over stated to the point that it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be and no other place can really be that much better. Is rudeness not a part of a city's culture, or is it that the rudeness he speaks of really doesn't reflect LA well.

She then got his pictures, and found out he was black. Adam, then goes on a rant about how sometimes people don't find other races attractive, and there's yellow fever and blah blah blah. Drew then pipes up and says I'm not feeling that this is that case, and is instead maybe racism, so we should go back and ask her why. Now, that wasn't the part where it went over board. Next, they go back to her ask her why and she says because I can only gently caress a black dude, but I couldn't spent my life with someone because I don't want to have black kids, AND ADAM, loving, DEFENDS IT by saying that you know, it's ok to be Jewish and specifically want to date Jews, and people generally stick to their own kind. Worst of all, Drew just says nothing, and they hang up on her basically saying, yeah go ahead date only white poeple if it makes you happy I honestly wish I wasn't over exaggerating because finally, it's been overboard. Like this one just pushes me over the edge to go seriously you two what the gently caress are your dumb brains thinking.

Boinks posted:I don't think its too big of a deal. Doesn't everyone want kids who look like them? NOOOOOOOO. Noooooo. No that is so loving untrue. This is implying that parents are disappointed by kids that have different skin colors than their own? Quincy Jones must be terribly upset by how his daughter came out I guess? Or at least midly upset that she's not black enough looking? Medullah posted:Unfortunately there's still a stigma out there for mixed kids, and it is racist. But could be equal parts racism on her part and a desire for her kids to not grow up being bullied because of their race. This is an excuse to hold racist views. If you turn it around, would you say it's reasonable for a black couple to not have black children because they might be the victims of racism? Ez posted:Lets not forget that woman was from Georgia too. I'm sure it's a much bigger deal there. The thing that bugs me is that yeah she's from Georgia, and it's more racist there for sure than other parts of the country, BUT her reasoning's implications were far more that she didn't want to have a half black family, as opposed to she doesn't want to have kids who have to deal with it. She didn't want to be judged basically, or have a different life from dating a black person. Social Animal posted:Is this biological racism a wrong thing though? I get the hunch she's not an actual racist in the sense that she hates blacks or feels superior. I agree it's pretty bizarre to gently caress and love someone but put a stop on it due to baby mixing. I'll stop here and say yes it's loving actually racist. How is it not. Biological racism is saying that my genes are better than yours, and that the color of your skin means a lot to me. If you weren't a fuckign racist you'd say I don't want my child involved in black culture, not I don't want to have a black kid. There's a huge difference. I wouldn't want my kids around the wrong kind of black culture either. It's also greatly implying that the race is hosed. It's not. I honestly thought that it was so obviously racist that you guys wouldn't be able to defend it, but I guess it's just only slightly racist? The part that bugs me that you can judge CULTURES all you want, and just be a nationalist. Nobody calls a frenchmen racist because he believes in France and believes it's better than all the other lovely countries, but it is racist to say I wouldn't want to be with a French brown person. Adam is highly judgemental of cultures, which isn't racist. Although it's not exactly politically correct, it makes sense that people will identify themselves as part of a group, and then run with it. You're not racist for saying Jamacians are lazy, regardless of how well informed you are or aren't. To judge someone though because their skin is dark however is loving abhorrent, and inexcusable. Lastly does nobody else see how loving ludicrously retarded it is to want children that look like yourself when children are supposed to be the embodiment of unconditional love?
