Put them in stasis until we're in a better position to come back and rescue them. Mercy is never misplaced, after all.

With regards to the other options - teleportation would leave behind the adults who would doubtlessly tell the giants of other villages where we went, and saying to approximately 500 people that "hey, we're leaving you to die in exchange for a shiny object, sorry about that" does not seem exactly heroic. Nor would getting a reputation for being the kind of person willing to sacrifice so many lives in exchange for personal power help us lead Kavodel.

Page 190-191 of Diog's posts is where most of the last discussion takes place. He says we can make a "truly awesome bow" or a very powerful spear for us and lesser, but still powerful spears for the balls. I'm sure we could ask for something else as well.

Stasis chat aside, absolutely no one else knows what is happening in all of this. They have no reason to assume that teleporting/stasis are an option, El has granted a physical item every other time after all. We will only have to answer to ourselves. And our responsibility is first and foremost to our self, our children, our Snarls, and our Balls. After that we are the magistrate of Kavodel, a city the size that Zepath was when we first got there. We are responsible for those people, all of them, and their protection. These villagers do deserve mercy, but we have to think of more than just them right now. We have to be able to weather the Storm and the Hardship in Kavodel and this is an opportunity to prepare in a way we won't have again for a long while, perhaps until after the Storm and Hardship have passed.

I'm sorry, but 587 villagers we haven't ever met before are not more important than the 12,000 citizens of our city and our close family of adventurers.

If we must leave them, then, we should consider that a few weapons will be of little use against an invading army, due simply to force of numbers - we held the temple due to a chokepoint, but in a pitched battle there is simply an upper limit to the rate at which we can kill them, at which point they can go around us or the Balls. If we had to take an artifact, we would be better off with something like a magic horn to blow to stun or drive away the lesser foot soldiers, to allow us to focus more on the more serious threats.

Task Manager's argument in favour of kid-teleport does sway me - is there time to at least give the adults a very rudimentary course on survival, so they at least know which end of a club to hold and how to build a shelter?

R Send the kids holding as much as they can carry, and if possible, send a Ball to explain what's going on.

D But not entirely at random. We're only a week or two (admittedly at a faster pace) from Original Amok. Teach them the basics of foraging and point them in that direction, if any survive when he returns they're his problem.

Speech E seems to be the least objectionable way to say "hey we're off with your kids, good luck".

Before we leave we should try to learn as much as possible since we can't carry so much physical things. If we can take seeds for the amber trees then we can try to grow them back in Kavodel, and if we study the forge as much as possible we can hopefully pick up a few more things. If we or any Balls have a particularly good memory we should try to memorise some scrolls, or at least look at them - maybe someday we'll learn the memory-searching trick and be able to pull the scrolls out of people's minds even if they can't remember them (no idea if it works like that but has to be worth a go!). And in the meantime train the villagers how to raise an altar to El and which plants might not kill them.

Get seeds, look at scrolls and the forge, crash course in wilderness survival

1) What kind of questions would you be willing to answer, if I swore to never tell another being? He's just doing his job, but maybe there are some things he can freely share so long as we make it clear we're not after divine revelation.

2) A. We don't really seem to have much choice, and given the number of things constantly watching us trying to bury the scrolls will probably be noticed.

3) J He was only doing exactly what we would have done. Can't blame him for that, but can try to reassure him.

Are we allowed to make use of the writing and forging techniques we saw without this violating keeping all the details a secret?
Can we get started on them right away, or do we have to pretend to come up with them later or that we coincidentally thought of them on the trip, or what?

e: already answered, thanks! So we just have to act like we came up with them independently and don't say "oh I saw this somewhere".

Go drinking with Ish and Triple Dad. Just socially hang out for a while without asking dozens of questions.

This might fall into too much time/resources, but:
Start keeping records of the "Bloodedness" of Kavodel's population . Nothing particularly formal, along the lines of "this year X men were capable of doing such-and-such". We've got a long life ahead of us and it'd be useful someday to see if the decline of Bloodedness was ever starting to reverse.
