I've got a whole week of nothing to do so I'm going to marathon the entire show again. As soon as I decided this, I went and got my DVDs from the shelf and looked over the episode lists, then was immediately sad that I'll have three whole seasons before Sgt Hatred becomes a major character. I guess I've come to love the guy v:shobon:v

What's the joke when the council members meet each other in the corridor after they decide to have a party? During the council meeting one of them is like "we can't carpool because we're too spread out", then they step out of their booth things and one of the heads of the two-headed dude says "So much for your precious anonymity", and Dr Z says "Well at least I tried" (referring to his fake moustache). But I don't get the joke. Did they not know they were in the same building up until that moment?

Man, they really need to make action figures of everything from this show. Underbheit, HELPER, Plugface, Walking Eye, Phineas Phage... every single character is just so wonderfully unique, it would blow a lineup of GI Joes out of the water. And of course you would need all the vehicles, from the boys' hover bikes to the giant Sphinx ship. Will mom and dad splurge and get you the Spider-Skull Island or Gargantua Two playsets?

I would sit on my floor and shamelessly smash them together making my own sound effects like an 8-year-old.

I want Steppenwolf and his Hhwhacky Racers car!

Ooh and an RC Mighty Monarch's® Flying Cocoon® with real acid magnet action!

"Clones" is the only way it works as a post-credits sting twist. :colbert:

It was supposed to leave you thinking "Wait what did he say, they were clones :tviv: " just before quitting for the season.

"Clothes" would be a weak and meaningless thing to leave the audience on. Why even bother saying it, let alone wasting the season's final post-credits stinger on it?

Are you loving kidding?

Yes I did. That's why this interpretation seems to make so much sense to me.

It wasn't just me. My whole group of friends was sitting in the living room coming down off the high of what we thought was the final episode of a series that was too good to outlive the season. We were all sitting there in mingled shock and euphoria over the unceremonious deaths of the boys. We were all silent as we listened to the faux-Dylan and watched the desultory credits crawl by. And then...

"All right, get their clones."

And very one of us fell about the room in spasms of honking laughter at the amazing way in which they had taken what seemed like an irrevocable series-ending capstone scene and, in the space of three seconds, solved a slew of mysteries and set themselves up for continuation. It was the perfect coup de grace, the cartoon writing equivalent of *ollies out*. We all loved it and were instantly stoked for the possibility of a Season 2.

Later, upon rewatching, I wondered to myself whether he might have said "clothes". But I dismissed it out of hand as it seemed like such an anticlimax as to be depressing compared to what I had assumed had actually happened.

For the sake of gently caress you are the biggest loving idiot, it's clothes, fuckity gently caress

Let's be honest; nobody watches this show. It's pretty much the best animated show ever for people who get its humor, but good luck convincing other people to try it.

I successfully got like.. one person to watch it ever. She loves it and quotes it all the time.

Everyone else though, jeez... One guy I used to work with told me he liked Archer, so I tentatively recommended VB too, with all the caveats about how the first season is really rough but so-and-so episodes are good, then it picks up by blah blah. So he went off and first accidentally downloaded Adventure Time (similar name????) which he hated, and told me so, but it took me a while to realise he had the wrong show. Once I corrected him, he finally tried Venture Bros, gave it like two episodes, and refused to watch any more. :cripes:
