Hmmmm... so unless I'm missing something, are we just down to the Phi path now?

All that's left is to continue Phi's path and see the ending where we betray Luna. I think there are a couple of bad endings we didn't cover, but nothing very significant.

On my first playthrough of this game, I just skipped going back and betraying here. I just couldn't do that to Luna.

Also, I'm pretty sure this ending is why the campaign to get the third game made was called "Project Blue Bird".

I thought the Luna dialogue was implying Luna has a thing for Sigma. :3:

I had to bookmark this because it was so perfect. It may be a bit of a leap to claim that it's true, given that she's a machine, but I like to think this was the case all along.

Then again, the same person also said this of the very timeline we just witnessed, before getting past the password lock:

Spatula City posted:

welp, this is the gently caress YOU YOU DON'T DESERVE ANY ANSWERS path. Just more and more questions piling up with no resolution to any of it.
And then an Ambidex Gate opening implies someone else is still alive. Which means either Quark or K (having shed his suit and made it look like he was dead). Quark is looking likely to be dead, though, given the bracelet. That or PARADOX VANISHED in a manner similar to June, which would be an insane theory in pretty much any other game, but within the context of this series is totally plausible. Given that this ending seems to be as bleak as the submarine ending in 999, it seems likely now that Phi and Sigma will get got without getting any answers. Congratulations VLR, you have succeeded in totally confusing me.

Life is full of ups and downs.

Something I just remembered from K's route:

Fedule posted:

Soon I found myself longing for a mother of my own. Someone who would always be with me, who would scold me if I did something wrong. At night they would read to me before bedtime. If only I had a mother like that, I thought, I would be so happy.

So, for the first time in my life, I asked my father for something. He had finished working and, as usual, was making his way toward his bedroom when I stopped him and asked for a mother.

He looked at me silently for a long moment before finally responding: "Okay." I remember to this day how happy I was at that moment.

A few months later, he called me into his laboratory. It was the first time he'd ever done anything like that. My heart was beating quickly as I stepped inside.

Standing next to him was a young woman, and my hopes soared.

But when he said her name—or rather, her ID number—they were dashed.

He had given me a robot to play the part of a mother. I didn't want a mother that was just a machine who did what a human told her to.
When I told my father that, he looked surprised for the first time in my life.

Then he frowned, coughed, and admonished me for being "a whiner." He'd never scolded me for anything before. At first I was surprised, then angry. Hot tears streamed down my face.

My father ordered the robot to take care of me, and shooed us out of his lab.

The robot was very convincing, and she smiled and spoke as if she was a real person, but I refused to answer her and locked myself in my room.

You can talk to a robot, and it will respond... But in the end you're still talking to a machine, not a person. If that was what I'd wanted, I still had the education software my father had given me.

When I ignored the robot as it tried to take care of me, it looked sad. It couldn't really be sad, of course: It was only programmed to look that way. A robot's facade of sadness didn't mean anything to me.

Yes, almost certainly past the point of any plot locks. Sigma is almost certainly Zero by process of elimination, just with some kind of memory wipe or replacement.

Still reading the LP blind to any of VLR's plot twists, mostly just checking every six months or so to keep up to date.

So, uh... last read this thread when Sigma was bleeding white, only it turned out he had fake arms, which he then used in another timeline to not die, which got us a password into this timeline and finally, finally some answers out of Luna aaaaaand she's dead. Oh and a bunch of little reveals along the way. (foil, sure, why not)

So can I play Zero Time Dilemma now? I held off on that cause I heard it spoiled VLR, and given how VLR spoiled 999 rather spectacularly I figured due caution was warranted.
