Anyone know anything about either of these books? http://www.amazon.com/Scenario-Based-Training-X-Plane-Microsoft-Simulator/dp/1118105028/ http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-Pilots-Training/dp/0764588222/

Thinking about picking one of them up to get a head start on instrument training.

The dev kit is pretty low, but the consumer kit is supposed to be better when it's released later next year.

Yeah, although the consumer version if/when it is released is supposed to be 1080P.

VR for a flightsim sounds fantastic, but not being able to see the HOTAS/keyboard would be a deal killer though.

Yeah I'm not sure how I'd work around that. Maybe something like the Belkin N52 gamepad.

The default 737 really sucks unfortunately. I recommend that you pick up the NGX or even the iFly 737 if you want to fly a 737.

I can't stop flying the Lancair. Something great about 10.3gph at cruise I like flying to all of the different places I would fly to if I ever got one.

What are the good GA planes for XPlane again? Anything good come out recently?

The Legacy is by far my favorite plane in FSX. The Bay Tower RV7 is pretty good too though.

Finally got a 2nd throttle quadrant to do multiengine stuff and a new multi-head monitor adapter, time to get in to IFR.

Also, now that I am going to start doing IFR stuff and need my iPad for charts and plates, what's a good cheap android tablet I can run flightgauge on?

So I am compiling FSX sat map textures for a good portion of the southwest with FSEarthTiles if anyone wants me to put together a torrent when it's all said and done.

I will have the Grand Canyon and all of Colorado at 1m/px resolution and all of Oklahoma and a portion of Kansas, as well as the route between Colorado and the Grand Canyon, at 2m/px resolution.

It's going to be a big motherfucker once it's all done though, CO textures alone are looking like they're going to be well north of 100gb. It will be absolutely gorgeous though.

Here's a quick sketch of what I am mapping out.

Yeah the BGLs all have the lat/long of the areas they cover in the filename, you can just delete the parts you don't want.

So what's that gonna mean in in-game terms compared to the default stuff? Will the terrain have better resolution textures, or is it more of a topographical accuracy improvement?

It will just look prettier, actual satellite maps for textures, no randomly generated terrain textures.

This is what it looked like with the MegaSceneryEarth textures, the ones I made should be a good bit higher resolution.
