I love those illustrations. They're like tarot cards with the meanings obscured, symbols without the requisite means to decipher them. That combined with the 80s fantasy art kitsch is just awesome. The fact that they hold the key to a real if manufactured and mostly defunct mystery makes them incredibly tasty, as well. Good luck finding anything from the 80s by landmark in Hermann Park, though. That's assuming it hasn't been destroyed or made inaccessible by the renovations that have occurred in the meantime. Some kind of archived visual record of the park during that period would be the best you could hope for, and given the area's size I doubt it would be complete. Even learning if that sort of record exists would involve bull-rushing your way past Harris County bureaucracy or having county archives access via professional means. Or, this being Houston we're talking about, perhaps via the Good Old Boy And Money network.
