Though it does strike me as likely that the two are related and have been “tuned” the same way I have this issue with iPhone as well, I always used to start awful just pulling down and typing A, but now it's nowhere near the top

 It seems that me complaining here miraculously fixed the issue for me, but it was bugged for at least a month! It didn't show awful even when I typed it completely

I'm not using lightroom, but when you delete photos in iOS they just go to a recently deleted folder which is automatically emptied after 30 days or so. You can manually empty it. Have you checked this? It's the bottom folder in photos
