Oh man, I'm so sorry. I hope you're doing ok. Make sure you're taking care of yourself - get some exercise and sunlight if you can. I feel for you, losing a pet is really really rough, especially under those sort of circumstances.

N4D, I loved seeing pics of Icarus when you posted them ITT. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope that you'll take some comfort in knowing that I made a donation in his name to a really good doggo rescue organization that has helped place numerous puppers in great homes. Every dime will be used to help place other dogs with people who will love them as much as you love Icarus. Hang in there, dude.

Sorry for your loss man. Losing a pet before their time is one of the worst things in the world. At least he had a good home and lots of love for the time he was here. I gave my pups an extra hug and wet food for dinner tonight. They celebrated by playing King of the Hill!

Sorry to hear about Icarus, I gave my pups even more hugs than they normally get today This was nice to wake up to after a nap  I forgot to take my keys with me on a walk so had to wait outside until my girlfriend got back from work to let us in  and Buddy was posing yesterday

So sorry for your loss N4D. Even when he had a long life, it was very hard to lose our dog - hard to imagine how you must feel. Take care of yourself and I'm sure you'll be up for taking care of another dog later. Nick, 1995-2011.

Find a dog you bond with but don't look to fill a hole by searching for a twin. That's a bad start for that animal and you. Let them be their own unique personality. I love my cat. She's the best pet I've ever had the good fortune of having. When she goes, that is the end of her story. Whatever animal I take in after her will be their own wonderful little furball. They deserve their own name and their own story.

I think you should take a breather from looking for another dog so suddenly. I can understand quite well that feeling of loneliness by not having a pet who was once a fixture of your life suddenly not be there but these feelings have to run their course. Good and bad. Basically, it's not about Icarus, my concern is about you. Step back and move on with your life for a bit. Let your mind throttle back a bit as you sort out your time with the little dude.

I think if you wait a bit to get a new dog, you will look back and appreciate the time you spent getting used to life after Icarus. Icarus isn't going anywhere, he's going to always be with you. And it would be unfair to a new dog if you weren't totally ready to make room for him/her. If you're ready, then godspeed. I think GIP supports whatever you know it is that you need.
