Double posting but just have a friend check on him if it's that worrisome. Also crate training really helps, as does pad training.

In that vein, I don't know what the gently caress, but he's so chill it's ridiculous. We go for walks and he gets a bunch of running in, even in my dinky-rear end less than 1/4 acre lot.

Realistically, he doesn't need a leash much anymore, but there's still times he slips on some commands.

The cats loving hate him though.

Sputnik is also chill as gently caress until we're at the dog park then he goes ape.

so I never really thought to look it up and apparently my memory was garbage, but I guess border collies are usually in the 30-45 pound range. Frank's pushing 85 pounds, and that's not fat.

not sure what he could be mixed with that would keep the traits but double the size, and I don't really care because he's awesome being as a supersized border collie. the only thing I don't see him do much of is stalk like a border, but that's more due to a bird dog being his buddy for the past 9 months.

That definitely not a pure bred BC. Wonder if he's mixed with a retriever of some kind.

There's an imposter border collie at my dog park, who's actually a Aussie shepherd, but outwardly mimics a border collie, and he's heavy as gently caress.

Sputnik had a door problem too but we got training. Basically had to establish boundaries where he could be when the door was open (and not open the door until he was in place), and that we were in control of outside as well as inside.

He hasn't ran out in months now.

It's a dog training thing. You have that high inflection that is different than the command voice, encouragement voice, or negative voice; each one of those voices is then linked with different body language and signs, so that it triggers different responses. Sputnik now does stuff just to hear that good boy; he's learned that the trick isn't done until he hears it, and he works out new tricks just by reading my voice.
