I was told at the end of the interview that he would be preparing an offer. Any good resources for salary negotiation? This is with a huge company that is large enough to have some salary reports on glass door so I can have a rough idea of what I might get, 4 others have reported on salary for a similar position.

EDIT: Something more in depth than the couple paragraphs in the OP which are very helpful.

Exactly this. Often they're hiring because the people they have are overloaded as poo poo. I have had two phone interview this week from the same company and both got rescheduled at least once.

Of course, you could simply print the job description to PDF and attach it on the end of your resume on separate pages. Then you're not going anything shady and get the same effect. The recruiter might wonder why but just say it is so you can keep track of your resumes easier.

When I was 16 I got fired from Ralph Lauren for selling shirts on eBay...

...got hired 22 hours later selling random peoples stuff on eBay at a consignment store and loved it. Became the manager at 18.

Engineer here: I have never had good luck with the various "we'll find you a job" types of services whether it be individual headhunters or recruiting agencies. Is it that hard to schedule phone interviews near lunch and in person interviews using paid time off? Kids are sick, I am sick, etc.

They will notice. If your resume is chronological, as most places suggest it should be, I'd simply put travel from this date to that date and then describe where you traveled to.

Theres several blog articles with ideas about how to handle this on a resume.

Its also a great chance to include hobbies like dancing, woodworking, etc. Its actually a great opportunity to humanize yourself. Make sure the description is short though.

How do you feel about a girl/guy who reschedules a date or doesnt commit to a hard date?

I'm surprised to hear so many people are getting these...I've been on at least 15 in person interviews and probably 30 phone interviews in the last 3 years and no one ever gave me a personality test. Was an engineer in the tech industry too.

Ahh, the people hiring me have had at least a Master's degree since ~2008 and I think that makes a difference. Those industries, from my observations on this forum, do not value education. Having well educated bosses owns. (unless youre in grad school and a TA/RA)

Training coordinator at Company A 2008 - April 2016
Quality systems specialist at Company B October 2015 to April 2016
Quality assurance coordinator at Company A April 2016 to sometime in early 2017
Training coordinator at Company B early 2017 forward.

How would I explain that on a resume with out it being all confusing?

Obviously if I were to start looking for a new job now I would include the future training coordinator position

Is your recap mistyped then? Should it actually be this?

If so I'd stack my resume as such:

Also did you do the same thing for 8 years with no advancement? Make sure to work in whatever advancement, successes, etc. you had. You can explain whatever in the interview. The resume is a very brief over view of how awesome you are. I wouldn't try to explain much.

I actually started being training coordinator in 2010, and was a lowly production employee before that. My current resume hast that specified and I would obviously keep it, I just left it out of the post for simplicity. There hasn't been advancement since that (only thing above QAC or TC [which are at the same level on the org chart] at the company would be corporate positions in Memphis or which include a lot of traveling which I'm not interested in), but there have been other successes which I have on my current resume which I would keep on there.

Go get some PT actuarial/finance/accounting gig on craigslist where you're basically an overpaid secretary "who does the books" for some small A/C repair company. It'll come back to you. Read a text book or watch some webinars on whatever the companies need. If they say you need "quickbooks experience" torrent that poo poo and watch every video on it.

As far as the resume we can't really help with your resume without you posting it.


..I'm half sorry to be such a dick and half mad for you not leaving what world you must live in where you can't get started with a highly desirable degree. My relatively small craigslist area has 24 accounting jobs like I just described. They probably don't pay great but they're a start until you move to something better or educate yourself better. Indeed has tons at more professional companies which you should also apply to.

Doesn't bother me dude, I've been at it for over a year and I can't get going so I'm aware I'm doing something wrong. There are lots of similar jobs in my area and I've applied to a lot of them but I can't seem to get any traction. I've lost count of how many I've applied to but I figured it was a numbers game so these days I still try to at least apply to one job a day, I alternate between stuff in Accounting I find on craigslist or other job search sites and entry level stuff on USAJOBS.gov (Since I live in the DC Metro area)

Any input on the resume would be appreciated.

It's been a couple years since I was really into polishing resumes so I may have forgotten some but doesn't stick out as bad to me. You say what you did/achieved. It's 1 page as it should be. Hopefully other goons can jump in with some tips.

So you've applied to everything nearby on indeed, craigslist and USAJOBS...

Maybe share a job posting and how you responded to it? You should have no problem getting a crappy entry level gig...especially if you've been trying for going on 2 years.

Also, how is your linkedin? >500 connections and talked to lots of recruiters?

Yea I've been there before, most in this thread probably have. It is extremely frustrating. I meant how you responded like when you send a craigslist/indeed place an email whats your elevator speech in email form?

I personally hate USAJOBS as a useless hole to throw resumes in but then again I used to tell people despite (literally) 100s of applications online I'd never gotten a serious interview from a cold application online.

...until I did and that's how I have my current job which I love.

I'd say step up the tempo of applications and try not to take it personally...the best you can. Sorry for being a dick this is a legitamately frustrating thing. You'll get there. What was your GPA? No GPA on a resume for a new grad is an instant red flag but if it is less than 3.0 better to leave it off IMO.

EDIT: I am a HUGE proponent of LinkedIn. I got my first job out of college on LinkedIn. A high paying job at a prestigious company in the tech industry. (Which I quickly hated...but I still got it!)

I can certainly up the tempo more. There's a middle ground between filling applications until crazy and doing only one a day.

One of the most annoying things for me personally is the contradictory information. For example I was specifically told, by multiple people that including my GPA (3.2 btw so like fine but not worth bragging about IMO) was anything between "unnecessary" to "tacky" and you're the first person I know who has anything positive to say about LinkedIn (I know LinkedIn use differs massively from generation to generation)

When I was desparate to leave my tech job I was doing upwards of 10/day. If you're struggling for cash and out of work, your new job is now finding work.

By the way I applied to/contacted recruiters for/sent emails regarding 183 jobs in 3 months when I was desparate after/during leaving my tech industry job. I had 9 interviews including phone and in person. Now keep in mind several of those were "apply through Indeed/LinkedIn/Automated Process" to stuff I was meh qualified for and meh wanted.

I don't know what more you can do, but youre a highly skilled employee doing them a favor by telling them to hurry up or they'll lose out. Say you have another offer in hand and you'd like to be with them but need a firm offer very soon even if the start date isn't for a few weeks.
