e: ^^^^^^ Man don't play with my emotions like that, Batman Beyond would be amazing I'm going to be cautiosly optimistic about the multiplayer being added and pray really hard it's not going to have any sort of multiplayer achievments tied with it. I've worked hard to have 1000 gamerscore in both Arkham games and I did that poo poo alone. Being Batman is all about being depressed as gently caress about your parents and working through it alone while the entire world is out to kill you

Multiplayer achievments be damned! Only thing I'm a bit worried about is that it looks like every segment of the city is just that, a closed segment. Meaning you *have to* use the Batwing/"Press A" to go between areas instead of being able to just run and glide through it on your own. Not really a big deal but I'm hoping for a fully open world in the style of Arkham City.

I kind of liked the puzzles and the amount didn't feel that bad apart from the fact that the map was just too small for all of them. I mean seriously, at the start of the game it's like literally every square foot has 2 trophies and it took me out of the ~immersion~ just imagining Riddler spending weeks doing all of this unnoticed. Had it been the size of GTA IV it would have been perfect.

I also think the multiplay looks kind of neat (first time seeing it outside of trailer, I don't really consider that something I don't want spoiler since it's not the campaign) but I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be like the early Splinter Cell multiplayer and everybody is going to memorize every hidden position the dynamic duo/Sam Fisher can hide in and pre-emptively shoot and grenade it. Hopefully there's a counter to thugs using detective vision because I'd just flash that everytime I'd take a corner to counter anyone trying to corner takedown.

Goddamn, getting timing right is tricky. I'm either very rusty or the combat is slightly quicker, or I'm (the character) slower? I feel a bunch of counters are coming quicker then animation are finishing almost. I'm playing on Hard though and loving that it's actually hard.

Granted I haven't played Arkham City in a while, but I completed New Game+ there with no sweat, but for some reason the fights in Hard on Origins is really kicking my rear end. I definitely feel slower this time around, I feel like I'm evading a whole lot more then I used to :/

Ok, slowly getting the hang of combat in Hard difficulty...but it's also showing me why I had so much trouble with it before. The goddamn loving camera is so slow to turn around and zoom out that I can't see enemies charging for me. And I'm not talking about the flash of a counter icon, they will literally lunge a good long way with a bat and completely come out of nowhere and whack me. Certainly doesn't help that a lot of fights are in tight areas where I can't really swing the camera around completely freely.

Question for guys further along then first meeting martial arts thugs, am I not supposed to have unlocked critical strike yet? Is there anything I can do to unlock them quicker, or is it solely main quest related? I didn't realize before how much of a crutch they are to me and I need to get them back. Side question, is the fast-travel supposed to be disabled around the time [20% story completed spoiler ->]after completing GCPD and entering the sewers?. Nothing happened when I tried to go to the Batcave and I don't recall having a prompt that it's disabled. For reference I've tried in areas where Riddlers towers have been disabled.

The combat in hard is so full of counters you can keep a combo going into 12x+ easily just by standing still and mashing the counter button. They attack fast enough that the combo never stops Ugly In The Morning posted:...I've played the entire series up through this one, and I never realized you could cut people down to reuse the gargoyle. It's happening! I think I'm finally getting a hang of combat in hard, I'm pretty sure when I can see goons attacking and I know their pattern enough to know when I have time to hit a strike or just throw a quick batarang and then evade. Just like in City though I'm having a slight issue working explosive gel into it, always feels like it's a toss between working or destroying my combo for no particular reason. Also I'm about to unlock Critical Strikes, watch out criminals Feeling a lot better about I Am The Night mode, with New Game+ to really work on the muscle memory.

Some of the themes in Asylum came pretty close, and the main theme in City was amazing. But I'm really missing the traditional Batman theme from the 89 movie forward and I just wish they would go all out and license that back for the last(?) rocksteady sequel to finish up the Arkham series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6frI0Xjufg

I'm just hoping for a Professor Pyg appearance, with the M rating they can get reallyyyy hosed up. But it's probably because Rocksteady is going to be really final about their ending the tour of Arkham with killing Batman in a tear-wrenching way that gets them the M rating - My own speculation I'm only basing on the things I've seen from playing Arkham.

Obligatory "were we supposed to hate character x?" post. I also enjoyed Catwoman. Not a huge fan of traversal though but not to the point that I'd avoid playing as her because of it.
