Unleashing my best...

LUMINARY UPPERCUT!!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 オールスターバトル) is a fighting game announced on July 5th, 2012, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the famous Jojo's Bizarre Adventure series. The game contains characters from all across the series, from Part 1: Phantom Blood, all the way to the latest Part, Jojolion. The PlayStation 3 game is being developed by CyberConnect2 (Known for creating the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series, as well as several .hack// titles.), and being published by Namco-Bandai Games.

Release Date:
Japan: August 29th, 2013
US/EU: 2014

Gameplay
All Star Battle is a cellshaded 3D fighter, in vein of Namco's Tekken series, where characters fight in a 2D style, but can also sidestep around a 3D field.

The buttons are Weak, Medium, Strong, and Style. If you've played the Heritage for the Future fighting game, you'll recognize Style as the Stand button. Ripple users (From Parts 1 and 2) charge their Heart Heat gauge using their breathing techniques, and can access EX versions of their specials by doing command+Style. They also have a Ripple Guard, which nullifies chip damage at the cost of losing a bit of Heart Heat over time.

With the Pillar Men (ACDC, Wham, and Cars), they shift their Mode. This makes them lose Heart Heat while they're in their signature modes, but they also do more damage.

Stand users will call their Stand, which more often than not varies their movesets slightly. An example would be with Josuke, 236+Attack makes him do a rush punch, while he has a command grab into a rush punch when Crazy Diamond is out. Some normals are also changed when the character's Stand is out, such as Giorno's j.H being able to cross up in Stand mode.

Additionally, Stand users have the ability to use Stand Rush. While your Stand is out and during certain special moves, you can hit Style to make your character do an action while the Stand is still actively doing its attack. Jotaro's Star Finger, for example, could be extended into a longer combo chain by hitting Style while Star Platinum strikes the opponent.

Horseback characters (Being Johnny and Gyro so far) have the ability to get on their horse, changing their moveset completely (Their HORSES have their own normals!), and making them much taller than other characters. You can't be thrown while on horseback, unless it's a command grab, and being struck by most moves knocks you off your horse. For Johnny, this is a large problem due to him being very immobile and he can't jump.

Dio Brando has his own personal style, Vampire skills, which I have little information about... He can drain blood from his opponents to recover his own health, and freeze them as well. (Will edit when more info comes out)

There's also an Easy Beat option, where when you press Weak with proper timing, you will perform a combo with a Heart Heat Attack (Explained later) at the end of it.

The gauges in this game are health, guard, and Heart Heat (Super meter). Some characters may also have a unique gauge over their Heart Heat one, such as Mista having gauges representing how many bullets he currently has.

Using one stock of Heart Heat allows you to use your character's Heart Heat Attack, while two allows you to perform a Great Heat Attack. HHA can be super cancelled into, GHAs cannot.

You can also perform a Stylish Move (Tapping sidestep just before a move connects), which is the character strikes a pose, sidesteps, and dodges an opponent's attack completely. It costs some Guard Gauge, but gives you a great chance to counterattack.

Taunting the opponent depletes their Heart Heat gauge, but the opponent can counter-taunt to get their meter back. Characters may also perform intimidation moves, such as DIO's WRRRYYY! or Jojolion's Josuke enjoying a jelly roll the wrong way, which reduces the opponent's Heart Heat by about half a stock.

The game's Rapid Cancel mechanic is known as Puttsun Cancel. By spending one stock of the Heart Heat gauge after performing certain special move, you reset yourself back into a neutral state, being able to extend combos, and more.

There is a Rush Mode, which is assumed to be initiated by two characters hitting each other with their Rush Punch moves (Example being Jotaro using his Star Platinum's ORAORA against Dio's The World's MUDAMUDA). When Rush Mode is started, each player needs to mash their move's button, the loser being knocked back. (Like all gameplay info, this will be edited when more information is given)

For each stage of the game there are hazards to avoid and certain finishers you or your opponent can do. Depending on the character you play, or how a match has ended, you can perform a Situation Finish. An example being that you can knock your opponent out of the Dio's Mansion stage, akin to the final battle in Part 1.

There are two comeback modes a character may have. Rumbling Mode is the first. When your character hits about 20% of their health, their HP bar glows red, their attack power increases, and they gain more meter. Perparedness Mode is the second, where their HP bar glows gold, and attacks cannot make them flinch winch/flinch.

Game Modes
There will be an "unconvential" Story Mode (Text and voices, secret scenes may be accessed due to how you preform in battle), a Campaign, a Versus Mode, Practice, Customize, Gallery Mode, and Online Mode. Part 1's Robert Speedwagon will be narrating most of the menu options, though insofar, it is unknown what Story Mode and Campaign will have to differeniate each other.

In terms of Customize, you can change your characters' appearance and what sound effects they will have for certain moves and poses, and also changing outfits and colors of the characters, too (Such as making Volume 3 Jonathan Joestar, or Final Battle DIO).

Stages
(Note: It is unknown if Stage Hazards can be turned off)

Dio's Castle (From Phantom Blood)
Stage Hazard: Falling Chandelier. This will damage whoever is directly underneath it.
Situation Finish: Sent flying off the balcony (recreating Dio's first defeat from the manga)

Skeleton Heel Stone (From Battle Tendency)
Stage Hazard: Vampire Horses charge through the players.
b]Situation Finish[/b]: The Vampire Horses will trample the loser to death.

El Cairo City (From Stardust Crusaders)
Stage Hazard: Wilson Phillips's car will drive through the players on DIO's orders.
Situation Finish: Loser is sent crashing into a water tower recreating Kakyoin's death scene.

Dio's Mansion (From Stardust Crusaders)
Stage Hazard: Nukesaku jumps down and attacks the players.
Situation Finish: Thrown out the second story window (Vampires and Pillar Men will be disintegrated by the sun's light, normal characters will merely fall to their deaths).

Morioh (From Diamond is Unbreakable)
Stage Hazard: Lightning strikes (Only Akira resist the effects. Instead his energy will be completely replenished.)
Situation Finish: Loser is dragged by the hands in Reimi's Alley to the world of the dead.

Kira Estate (From Diamond is Unbreakable)
Stage Hazard: Yoshihiro Kira's Atom Heart Father attacks the players.
Situation Finish: Loser is thrown into a stack of books. One of them flips open revealing Yoshikage Kira's various nail clipping records and a message where he declares that he can't be stopped.

Rome (From Vento Aureo)
Stage Hazard: Secco's Oasis liquefies the ground.
Situation Finish: Loser is thrown into a garbage truck similar to what happened with Ciocolatta.

Naples Train Station (From Vento Aureo)
Stage Hazard: Pesci's Beach Boy flies out, seeking a target.
Situation Finish: Pesci's Beach Boy hooks the opponent by the head from the train. The train then moves and the unfortunate loser is dragged away.

Green Dolphin Street Prison (From Stone Ocean)
Stage Hazard: Weather Report's poisonous frog rain. Players hit by the frogs will begin to lose health steadily.
Situation Finish: Whitesnake steals a Stand Disc from the fallen opponent (If Pucci himself is fighting at this stage, Situation Finish won't work).

Kennedy Space Center (From Stone Ocean)
Stage Hazard: C-Moon's gravity control sends various objects falling to where the players are.
Situation Finish: Sent flying off the space shuttle to the ground and then falls down towards the horizon.

The Atlantic Ocean (From Steel Ball Run)
Stage Hazard: Lucy Steel's Ticket to Ride grants players a full Heart Heat Gauge.
Situation Finish: Loser is tossed into a sign warning travelers about bears.

Wall Eyes (From JoJolion)
Stage Hazard: Yasuho Hirose's Paisley Park activates, drawing Joushuu Higashikata to her as he runs about the stage barging through anyone and everyone.
Situation Finish: Loser is sent flying right near Yasuho, who screams in surprise, causing Joushuu to get angry and cave the loser's head in with a rock.

Characters
Appearing from Phantom Blood -

Jonathan Joestar: The first Jojo of the entire series, and the son of the wealthy George Joestar. He's a kind, honest young man who uses the Ripple Technique to defeat his adoptive brother, Dio Brando.

Will Anthonio Zeppeli: Mentor to Jonathan, he's the first member of the Zeppeli family to assist the Jojo's. He is the master of the Ripple technique, and both brave and confident.

Dio Brando: Son of a bandit, Dio is sent to be adopted into the Joestar family, and using the power of the Stone Mask, becomes a vampire to surpass humanity! See DIO for more information.

Appearing from Battle Tendancy -

Joseph Joestar: The first Joestar to escape his lineage's fate of dying young, Joseph is hotheaded, often foolish, but is quite savvy in a fight. Known for verbally predicting his opponents' next moves, he uses the Ripple technique. In ASB, using consectutive Ripple moves in a row powers the next one up, similar to Akihiko Sanada's Wind Gauge in Persona 4 Arena.

Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli: A blonde, sauve ladies' man, he seeks revenge against the Pillar Men for killing his father. He uses the Ripple with his Bubble Launcher, creating deadly bubble cutters.

Lisa Lisa: This cool cat is strict, mature, and the teacher of the Ripple for both Joseph and Caesar. Along with using a special scarf to manipulate ripple power with, she has several mysteries about her.

Wham: The most honorable of the Pillar Men, he uses his Air Mode in battle to whip up tornadoes. He also attacks anyone who steps on his shadow instinctively.

ACDC: Has a violent temper, enough that he has to cry and sob to calm himself down. His Heat Mode allows him to set things to a boil, even his own blood!

Cars: The intelligent and ruthless leader of the Pillar Men, his goal is to obtain the Red Stone of Aja. His Light Mode allows him to use various blades on his body, and his Great Heat Attack allows him to become the Ultimate Being!

Appearing from Stardust Crusaders -

Jotaro Kujo: Both the most recurring and most popular Jojo, he's tough, rough, and also quite calculating. His Stand is Star Platinum, who's known for ORAORAORAing all his foes. Yare yare daze...

Old Joseph: Now at the ripe old age of 69, Joseph returns to Japan to serve as a mentor for the main cast, and still quite proficient at fighting. His Stand is known as Hermit Purple, which takes the form of thorny vines which both can project psychic imagery onto photographs, or be used to channel to ripple into a target.

Noriaki Kakyoin: Cold on the outside, warm on the inside, Kakyoin is both straight to the point and also cares strongly for his friends, though he doesn't relate well to many people. His Stand is Hierophant Green, one of the first long range Stands, and is adept at stretching and shrinking its body.

Jean Pierre Polnareff: While not the brightest, Polnareff has a big heart beating in his chest. He swears revenge against J. Geil, who raped and killed his sister. His Stand is Silver Chariot, a speedy knight who is a master of rapier.

Mohammed Avdol: A rather serious fellow who wears his heart on his sleeve, and is a good source of knowledge about Stand users. Like his personality, his Stand is Magician's Red, a bird man who manipulates fire.

Iggy: A gum-loving dog, Iggy started off only being a comedic character, farting on people's faces and generally being a bother. Later on, him and his Stand The Fool get their own fights in the manga, including the more memorable one out of Pet Shop.

Hol Horse: A recurring villain, Hol Horse considers himself to be a Number 2 Kind of Guy. He partners up with murderer J. Geil to become an unbeatable duo! His Stand is The Emperor, a gun which allows him aim his bullets in whichever way he wants.

Vanilla Ice: The final vampire of the series, Ice is DIO's last guard against the crusaders, and is both defined by his extreme loyalty, as well as killing two main cast members. His Stand is known as Cream, in which anything that enters its maw is sent to the void.

DIO: A villain so charismatic, his influence spreads across every part in the story. Dio is Jonathan's adoptive brother, who became a vampire, and also has some... Interesting ideas about Heaven. His Stand is The World, with the ability to stop time for several seconds.

Appearing from Diamond Is Unbreakable -

Josuke Higashikata: Don't say anything bad about his hair! This sneaky and yet polite teen is the illegitimate son of Joseph, and they do have similar personalities. His Stand is Crazy Diamond, which can repair and heal anything, as long as it isn't a dead person. (It can't heal Josuke's own injuries, however)

Okuyasu Nijimura: Similar to Polnareff, Okuyasu isn't exactly the brightest character, and tended to rely on his brother for difficult decisions. His strength lies in, well, brute forcing through problems. His Stand is The Hand, which removes space when it swipes with its right hand, which would NORMALLY be devastating. ... If it weren't for the fact its user isn't the most strategetic.

Koichi Hirose: A friendly, rather naive boy, he's perfectly willing to help strangers but doesn't seem to suspect they could have bad intentions, which tends to land him in trouble. His Stand is Echoes, the first Stand to evolve and have several Acts. It has the ability to manipulate sounds, make those sounds come to life, or create a gravity well.

Rohan Kishibe: Because of his superhuman skill as a mangaka, and his dislike to socialize with others, Rohan often appears arrogant. His Stand is Heaven's Door, which allows him to open up people like a comic if they're able to understand his art, and he can freely read through their memories, or manipulate them.

Shigekiyo Yangu: One of Araki's favorite characters, Shigechi is naive and socially inept, but still has cunning in the way he uses his Stand. With Harvest, he makes up the third person of THE INVINCIBLE TRIO, with Josuke and Okuyasu.

Akira Otoshi: One of the first villains of Diamond Is Not Crash, Akira is a wannabe rock star, who uses the Bow and Arrow Stand to torment the people of Morioh while improving his guitar skills. His Stand is Red Hot Chili Pepper, a lizard-like Stand that manipulates electricity.

Yoshikage Kira: The main villain of Diamond is Unbreakable, he's an adult who longs for a simple life and, while he has many talents, he's made it a point to never stand out. His Stand is Killer Queen, a bomb manipulating Stand that appeared due to Kira's desires of not wanting to leave evidence behind his murders.

Kosaku Kawajiri: The disguised persona of Kira, Kosaku was known to be cowardly and quite boring. He has both a wife and son, the latter being used by one of Killer Queen's later techniques, Bites the Dust. Because Kosaku is Kira, his Stand is Killer Queen, but also uses the Stray Cat Stand to further increase his bombs' abilities.

Appearing from Vento Aureo -

Giorno Giovanna: The son of Dio, this half English-Japanese teenager is clever, and has a strong sense of justice, this justice leading to his desire to become a Gangstar. His Stand is Gold Experience, with the ability to give life to non-living things, turning them into various animals.

Bruno Bruccellati: A moral man who is loyal to his citizens, he's a part of the gang Passione, acting as a member of one of its divisions, and is often coined the main character of Vento Aureo. His Stand is Sticky Fingers, which creates zippers on anything it punches, more useful than one would think.

Guido Mista: Paranoid of the number 4, this gunslinger is quite loyal to the team. His Stand is Sex Pistols, a set of six bullet-shaped Stands who can speed up and redirect his bullets' trajectory.

Narancia Ghirga: His education may not extend past elementary level, but he's still quite the tactitian. He's often panicky and nervous, as well. His Stand is Aerosmith, an airplane equipped with a machine gun, missiles, and also bombs, and can track Carbon Dioxide.

Pannacotta Fugo: Sporting an IQ of 152, Fugo is the last original member of Passione. He's both caring and hot-blooded, which makes his Stand Purple Haze perfect for him - Its ability is poisoning his enemies with the viruses in its knuckle bulbs.

Diavolo: The mysterious boss of Passione, he's ruthless, cruel, and his goal is to erase all traces of his lineage, just to keep his identity secret (Also suffers from a split personality). His Stand is King Crimson, which is both quite powerful and has the ability to skip/erase time. It's also famous for confusing many fans.

Appearing from Stone Ocean -

Jolyne Cujoh: The first female Jojo to appear in the series, her spunky attitude wins her quite the loyal crew on her journey to save her dad's life. Her Stand is Stone Free, which allows her to turn her body into string, usuable in a variety of ways.

Hermes Costello: Despite her tough exterior, Hermes is proud, loyal and very headstrong. Her Stand is Kiss, which duplicates an object that has its sticker, and when the sticker's pulled away? The two objects collide back into one, suffering damage.

Narciso Anasui: Obsessed with dissembling objects, Anasui partners up with F.F. in order to both rescue and sweep Jolyne off her feet, due to the tales he's heard of her. His Stand is Diver Down, having the ability to dive into objects and either break down their components.

Enrico Pucci: A priest who seeks to find Heaven, and had lovely chats with DIO. His Stands are Whitesnake, with the ability to manipulate discs, C-Moon, which manipulates gravity, and Made In Heaven, which speeds up time.

Appearing from Steel Ball Run -

Johnny Joestar: A paraplegic horse jockey, he enters the Steel Ball Run to understand the power of the Spin. His Stand is known as Tusk, which allows him to shoot Nail Bullets among other techniques, while his horse is known as Slow Dancer.

Gyro Zepelli: Using the power of Spin, this cocky horse jockey enters the Steel Ball Run to save a child from execution. His horse is known as Valkyrie, and many fans consider him to be the main character of SBR.

Funny Valentine: The 23rd President of the United States, Funny debuted as a stout old man, and is quite interested in the mysterious corpse parts that are hidden around the new continent. His Stand is Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, allowing him to go through different timelines, using the world where the corpse parts are located as the center world.

Appearing from Jojolion -

Josuke Higashikata: Known by fans as Gappy or Jo2uke, his actual name is unknown, and seems to have a special link with the killer Yoshikage Kira. His Stand is known as Soft & Wet, which can steal properties from things, such as the sound of a wall breaking.

Appearing from BAOH -

Ikuro Hashizawa: Teenager who was kidnapped and turned into a powerful bioweapon, Ikuro is on the run to escape the clutches of the Judas group, with the support of a young girl. His Style is known as the Baoh Armed Phenomenon, which involves the use of the Baoh virus in his body. (And yes, that IS a narrator narrating his moveset)

Still no official word. There was an announcement months back with Namco Bandai trademarking All Star Battle for the US, but nothing else has been said...

On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

I kind of want to import this, but I get the weird feeling that if I do then it'll get announced stateside. That keeps happening to games I import as of late. Then again a trademark doesn't really confirm an overseas release, there's a bunch of JRPGs out there with US trademarks that never crossed over :ohdear:

I hope it gets the pirate warrior treatment of a PSN only release. The HD version of the last jojo fighting game came out last year so interest in the series can't be zero right? :ohdear:

Jojo has a pretty good chance of being released stateside since they just did the hd remake of bizarre venture. I'd hold out for more info before worrying about it just yet.

Is this getting a full release on the japanese PSN? if worst comes to worst doing a gameshare would probably be better than spending $80+.

Part 3's arcade game had even the slightest of references changed to get it release, the HD Remake upped it further from it's original incarnation to remove artist references. For example, Iggy (the Dog) got changed To Iggi, Vanilla Ice was changed to Iced, Devo to D'bo and so on.

Given Parts 4 onward up the music references very heavily it's almost certain we won't see this in the west. I THINK this may have had something to do with why the PS2 Part 5 didn't see a french (let alone worldwide) release because Araki refused to allow changes to the names.

Sorry for nitpicking, but those changes aren't unique to the HD release. Those particular changes were originally made for the console releases back in the day.

I really can't see this game coming stateside, at least not without changing like half of the names, it'd be a lawsuit goldmine otherwise.

But holy poo poo everything about this game looks really fantastic, if it's at least half as good as the Part 3 arcade game then I'll be totally satisfied.

I don't think there's any chance in hell this game is getting a stateside release. Even if they changed all the names like they did with the games, they'd still have the characters saying the names. They'd either have to have the subtitles saying something entirely different from the spoken Japanese, or completely dub the game.

It'd be great if it could get a pirate warriors style release here, but Araki's love of naming things after bands has made it practically impossible.

The US release of the Part 3 manga contains practically every musical reference that was in it, which is a lot since stand user names are ripped wholeheartedly from musicians and even Vanilla Ice and Kenny G retained their names when it got to the later parts. I don't know if there's been any official word on why the Part 5 game was never released, but the most common explanation I heard was that Prince was none too happy about Gold Experience being used and would go through legal action or something and Araki didn't want to change the name so it stayed in Japan.

EDIT: Like, it's not impossible that this gets a Western release, it's a really under the radar game and it's not like any legal action has really ever been taken against Araki for it.

That was talked about this month with the 5th PV, though the directors haven't said much about what they meant by unconventional. There's also going to be more ASB League matches in July, so you can see the AI duke it out poorly (And speculate on special moves)

The rush punches seem to be specials, according to Jotaro's and Bruno's movesets, at least.

I'm thinking they could get away with the names under parody as long as they don't actually use any copyrighted music. It's not like anyone has sued the band As I Lay Dying for being named after a copyrighted work.

Actually I looked at it again and C-Moon is here as well, so now I'm thinking it might be like Koichi's Echoes, or maybe some sort of hybrid of both.

Does anyone have the faintest idea of how big the final character roster is gonna be? Me and a bunch of friends are crossing our fingers for some of the more obscure villains. Also hahaha, god, how are they going to implement King Crimson's ability?

This trailer shows all previously announced characters (except Part 1 Dio and Pucci who were just announced today) including Diavolo:

(trailer part starts around 0:50)

And they said there would be "30+ characters".

Preordered the game, got a Japanese PSN set up.

If it comes Stateside I'll just buy it twice.

I've changed a lot since I started hanging with Sonic, but I can't depend on him forever. I know I can do this by myself! Okay, Eggman! Bring it on!
What's the better shipping option? EMS or SAL?
