Spent today playing tetris moving cars around our garage in anticipation of a new three door Celica that's showing up in mid-January. For all of you getting Focusii, cancel your orders and buy Escort Cosworths.

Calling it an RS without AWD is some sort of sacrilege.

InitialDave posted:What makes you say that? There have been three factory cars with an RS badge and AWD: Escort Cosworth, nineties Escort RS2000, later Sierra Sapphire. All others have been FWD or RWD. Meh, it just pisses me off that the 'rally on Sunday, buy on Monday' rules no longer apply to the WRC anymore. The fact there's an AWD Fiesta in the WRC but not one available for sale to the general public is sort of weak.

albear posted:I would love to see an AWD Focus/Fiesta but from what I know, the last few iterations of the RS have all been FWD. I doubt we'll see an AWD variant. Yea it blows. I'm saving my pennies for a RS Cosworth but by the time I get the $$$ together I'd imagine most of them would have rusted through.

Rhyno posted:Yaaaaaaay! Post more pics! Start a thread! I'm gonna have to, our garage is getting more and more absurd. I have to find out whether the rims that are on it were factory options because OZ doesn't make them anymore. Other than that and a stereo that won't stop babbling at me in Japanese, that's all that's been changed. Seriously, everything else is stock - I'm not sure about the pillar speakers but they are very tastefully done. Someone has really looked after this. Initially the plan was to take it up to 300 HP and then leave it at that, but it might be more fun to try and see how close to Concourse standard I can get this thing for non-ridiculous money. I am lost for words that Toyota ever built a car like this. This thing has a presence the 86 just lacks. Butt Wizard fucked around with this message at 10:04 on Jan 20, 2014 |

InitialDave posted:You consider the Celica a hatch? Weird. While it has a hatch, it's pretty universally considered a coupe here. I was wondering how long until someone called me out on that - it's the size of a god drat sedan. I've got something coming soon though that definitely deserves a place in this thread...

Radioing in to say my hot hatch will be delivered in a week. If my GT4 doesn't meet the definition then this thing sure as hell does.

Delivery of my hatch has been bumped back until tomorrow, but I'm in the office from 7am until 7:20pm. Would have been nice if they'd let me know it was delayed, or let me know anything, instead of me burning a day of leave I probably needed.

Finally got a decent feel for the seats and driving position on Friday. Two things: 1) How does LHD work what's wrong with you people 2) The wheelwell intruding into the driver's foot space means I can't full depress the clutch in running shoes. Time to go kart boot shopping. Butt Wizard fucked around with this message at 22:28 on Feb 15, 2014 |

KYOON GRIFFEY JR posted:This makes no sense - there's a dead pedal, but that's not the wheel well. No dead pedal. Just sidewall. It's less pronounced in my old Mini because the gearbox sits more centrally but I guess there's just so much more stuff jammed in as you get more and more modern. I never thought I'd label a classic Mini as relatively spacious but here we are. KakerMix posted:All Golfs still have them, including the Mk7. Not having a dead pedal would kinda suck. The deadpedal is basically the back of the wheel-well. It blows but hopefully kart boots will be narrower than running shoes and give me enough sensitivity to know when I'm overlapping before I actually use the clutch. Sweevo posted:I always like the Delta (and regret not buying a 1.6HF many years ago), but I've seen too many photos of rust to buy one today. Yea I wouldn't buy one ex-UK or Europe. Thankfully the Japanese went crazy for them so there are some pretty good examples floating around.

Lancia goes to be inspected on Monday. GT4 WRC is at the Toyota dealership near my office getting brakes and steering pump seen to. Then there's just the carb rebuild on the Clubman GT and we're laughing. Unfortunately I have to go to work (loving 31st of March) but I'll make it bearable by going and seeing Ayrton Senna's MP4/4 at the Auckland McLaren dealership, also just up the road.

Off to be certified tomorrow - the tests are really thorough so we're expecting it to fail but we'll get an exhaustive list of what's wrong with it. Hopefully not much.

I would have said that RWD should be the one you would be more cautious with, but it's just a question of whether you want to crash at the start of a corner or the end of it.

Trying to track down the interior gearbox surround for an Italian car is like making love to a silver back gorilla. Also, what up Eurohatch goons.
