Regarding tonight's show: it's amazing how the judges made the right call on who to send home but every other decision was inexplicable. Like, I'm resorting to TLo clichés, but they are seriously smoking crack to reach the conclusions they did. edit: next week is KORS!!!!!!!

Yeah I don't understand all the fawning over Helen's piece. It was just a plain, boring, Chico's lookin rear end black dress. It wasn't innovative or interesting at all, and the shoes weren't THAT crazy that it needed so plain of a dress. Any other season the judges would have lost their minds over "just a dress." Unless my TV didn't show certain details or something, I don't know. Someone help me out.

Okay, good. I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering why that plain looking dress won. (Or why only black dresses made the top, for that matter.)

Kate's blouse also really bothered me because the design gave the illusion that it was too tight.

I felt like there was some kind of secondary competition between the judges to see who could say "I don't love it" the most times. e: Also, Helen: "I wanted to experiment with something that fit right since that's something I haven't done this season" Kekekela fucked around with this message at 18:20 on Aug 30, 2013 |

C'mon Bradon, pull yourself together. That dress Helen made was waaaaay to simple for PR.

I thought it was amusing that the model seemed too tall for those thigh high sandals. Her knees were practically peeking over the top of the knee pads. Also I never noticed Tim Gunn's bald spot before.

Did anyone else feel like the only shoes they were allowed to take were in that one compartment? Because some of these were odd choices given the normal esthetic of people like Bradon andMiranda winner! Helen Ironic that Miranda did not know who first glamorized the LBD but it was the very thing that won the challenge. Notice her model has Helen's hair? Top Ken Really? 2nd place? too short, bulky, and a peplum? huh… Alexandria I thought this looked so cheap up close. I did not get the love for these shoes either I hated the Tom ford version on Anne Hathaway Alexander He made quite the do to about pegged pants. It's cute though Justin I'm having trouble with the hip and thigh area, but I love the jacket Dom Dom is having an M.I.A. moment. Kate The shoes only go with the staying of this… ensemble Karen Way too literal. Also her nipples are collapsing. Bottom Jeremy I could see where he was going, but that top was a disaster Bradon This model is cursed and should be banned from our lands! OUT Miranda crotch is a little loose, should not have gone red w/o matching perfectly which was not going to happen with the shine on those shoes. Plain-Jane top did not help.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Those shoes looked uncomfortable as poo poo. Homestly though, I think that model could walk the runway in a tube top, ripped jort cargos and clear pumps and still own it. See: last week's diapers-n-denim win. She is seriously stunning. I think Ya is the good luck charm to balance that Hofstra-freshman-looking one's bad juju.

Dom should be thanking her lucky stars that she was safe. I almost can't believe that was Dom who made that monstrosity. The purple heart/boobs area looks SO unflattering on her model.

The fact that the fabric was quilted made Dom's outfit even worse. That was just bad all over. Also, I really don't understand the love the judges had for Alexandria's outfit. Why did she make silk pajamas to go with those gladiator sandals? Why are there knee pads on those sandals in the first place? Why are the shoes with multiple sizes kinda... uninspiring? Did Nina Garcia horde all the really good and intriguing shoes for herself?

I would prefer that we spoiler fashion week discussion in this thread, at least until the designer is eliminated and then his/her collection is revealed. Sometimes it is very easy to tell either who made what collection or whether a collection was a contender or not based on the pictures. I like the fashion week competition collections to be a surprise.

I'm not that into fashion, but I really don't understand how a simple plain boring black dress won this week. I feel like normally that would have been in the bottom. "Yay you fitted a boring dress!"

"Yay you fitted a boring dress!" It was a challenge involving shoes and that dress played up the black shoes it was made to go with. The black cape was simple but clever. At least the model didn't look like a call girl. The other two black dresses weren't much better. Looking back at the outfits for this challenge, I can't say that I liked any of them. Each outfit had problems.

I was wondering when the "Heidi gets free design work done for her collection of ___" challenge was going to happen. I like how they tried to show that Ken isn't just a terrible and mean guy... but nothing he said can justify how he regularly acts. I highly approve of the Sandro II comments. The apology was so fake. He realized he was on camera and did some damage control

I doubt this will be a popular opinion but I mostly liked this episode. There were several good-looking garments, the judging was informative, snarky and on-target, and the right person went home. I'm not crazy about Helen's win, but I doubt she will be able to keep it together for six more challenges so I don't really mind. E: Also, now we'll definitely get decoy collections from just about everyone who's likely to produce a decent one. I would have been really ticked if Karen had gotten to trot ten of her usual gunny sacks down the runway. epenthesis fucked around with this message at 05:44 on Sep 6, 2013 |

epenthesis posted:I doubt this will be a popular opinion but I mostly liked this episode. Very good episode, but sportswear rarely results in anything great. I'm dumbfounded at Helen's win. Kate's was head-and-shoulders above everyone else. I honestly expected them to call Helen out for overplaying her immunity again, but I'll admit the jacket was pretty good. Fresh Like Zafo posted:gently caress dropped crotches. Just a horrible trend all around, and of course tacky rear end Heidi would like it. Just ugh. Yup. Kors properly eviscerated that look and Tim's exposing of Heidi's input was probably the only thing that saved her. (Not really. Karen's square sweater was total rear end garbage.) On the other hand, that model's reign of terror continues unabated!

Not gonna lie, I would wear Karen's pants every single day of my life. Not out of the house and I also have no fashion sense, but they are total lazy house pants. I would not, however, wear Alexandria's poo poo pants if I was paid to.

I did not get Helen's look at all. The weird long sides of that jacket just looked like it would get in the way whenever you tried to work out in it. I was pretty impressed how well Alexandria kept it together after pretty much being laughed at straight to her face over her poopy pants.

Her model corpsing was just heartbreaking, and I say that as someone who gives no poo poo whether she stays or leaves.

I didn't really care for Helen's look (again) this week. -Dom's outfit reminded me of Tron. -I actually liked the pants Karen made, like a lot. I don't know why the judges were acting like everyone should wear tight leggings to work out--not every woman wants that. -Alexander's model looked like she was going to a workout class back in '87. The dropped crotch was horrible. No woman would wear that around the gym because it would get in the way of using every piece of equipment. If it was a lounging around the house challenge than yes it works but it was workout and those clothes do not work in the gym. Karen's jacket was about style and look. Women would pay extra for something like that and Kors pointed out that the shading over the neon green was a great idea. Neons are the hot workout colors and that shading makes you do a double take.

Thank GOD Kors was there for poopie gym wear! winner! Helen The neon was well deployed, and I agree with Nina: all sizes will buy that jacket Top Kate She looked so frustrated on the runway when Helen won… it was delicious. Alexander Cute as always. Justin "there was more cheek than I would have liked" Dom The red looks like holsters Jeremy Laker workout wear? Bradon Grey candy cane pants Bottom Alexandria Never really had a chance of going home since Heidi loved the pants. Also, cursed model. She always looks really surprised to be looking terrible Ken I just noticed the stain on the front. (It's not the picture either) OUT Karen No More BOCA!

I can't believe alexandria runs marathons and made drop pants to wear for running. Unless you have really skinny legs the skin chafing would be unbearable.

My main issue with Karen's piece was that they were sweats that were cut off at the most useless lengths. I don't mind that she made bulky sweats because honestly, in the winter time I love bulky sweats when running. But capri sweats have never appealed to me (despite Juicy and VS Pink making a killing off of them], and 3/4 length sweatshirts just seems useless as hell. I wasn't blown away by Heather's design, but at least there was a jacket there. I honestly would've been alright with Justin's design. Also I really didn't realize how much I missed Kors.
