Okay. ~153,000 points, rank 484, the tournament ends in an hour and a half, and I absolutely, positively cannot play any more. I am going to log in after work to see if I managed to stay in the top bracket, and then I am not going to touch this game for, like... a week. Best of luck to the rest of you guys.

Managed to finish up at 504. Had to spend a decent chunk of change to get there, though. I think I ended up running through 70 or 80 stocked fuel, and I'm kinda burned out on the game. I keep hearing the missile warning beep when I close my eyes.

I ended up at just over 9k ranking which is good for an emblem and a title. I can live with that. I simply didn't have the time to really compete this weekend so I guess I have to! I wish the Forced Sorties that allow you to use extra fuel were a full time thing. I don't always have time to knock out 3 matches so it's nice to frontload all those rewards into a single match. When is the Wardog supposed to start dropping?

I'm in the same boat--just didn't have the time. It seemed as though that when I did find a minute to play a match, there were tons of people playing, which is a good sign. Hopefully they'll start hosting contests like this on a regular basis, because it looked like everyone was having a blast.

Man I didn't even make the top 10,000. I'm kind of surprised by how gung-ho people are about burning large amounts of fuel for this stuff or boosting their drop rates for one game.

I played probably 30ish matches all week - those matches we had with all the Japanese airtists where we S Ranked everything put me up early on and since I didn't have a lot of time this weekend my maintenance matches were 3 fuel burns. Thanks to challenges I didn't spend a dime on fuel and I got really lucky with stocked fuel as drops too. I barely scraped into the 10,000 range though. I shudder to think how much fuel it would take to maintain a top 500 ranking.

Just being an MVP on a decently good A or B grade run could give you over a thousand ranking points. Multiplied by 3 with the forced thing, you'd jump up the lower parts of the ladder in big steps. I wish, the rewards were a bit different though, since credits are not that hard to come by. Those lower ranks get research items, now that's handy. And where do I stuff the Scarface emblem? It's nowhere near as cool as a pink flower. Speaking of emblems, don't you love the way they didn't put in national insignia, but left some coloured geometric shapes in, and, oh, what a coincidence, one of them happens to be a red circle.

Maybe Bamco just hates America, because another one of the "colored geometric shapes" is a red star  I think it's actually slightly different than the actual Russian and Soviet Air Force roundels, but it's pretty close.

I just got out of a room with DIRTYDAIpers123 and his friends, all like 15 year olds on voice chat. Holy crap some people are awful at this game. I had a middling 37k and I think I was equal to any two other players. (I'm not good.)

I once dropped into a room that had 6 players on voice, with the host marked as asleep, and the log informed me they were just sitting in the lobby for ten minutes, both talking and throwing text messages into the chat.

Did better than I thought I would. Thanks to a late 3x Fuel run on a Moby Dick Pursuit 1 as the final mission before the cutoff, I ended up with 35,512 Points, putting me at Rank 5751. Scarface is mine, but it's a little disappointing knowing that if I either spent a little extra (wouldn't have though) or stuck with Goon Rooms (thanks to my pal S-Alpha for the occasional help though), I just might have become a Mercenary King. Oh well, there's always next Tournament or whatever. Now it's back to the regular 3 or so plays a day to stock up on Stocked Fuel for a binge/next tournament/Forced Sorties.

I tried out a F/A-18 and I'm still kind of going back to my Harrier for point grinding. The 4AGMs and stability really help you strafing among the skyscrapers in Dubai and Tokyo. But the speed of the Hornet helps a lot when you have a lot of distance like in the oil fields and Comona. The 4AAMs of the Hornet are great for any air mission too. I haven't used QAAMs at all on any plane but it seems to me that normal missiles do the trick just fine. So for now I'm going to stick to the Hornet for air missions unless it's a Moby Dick and maybe I'll bring out the Zipang. The Harrier still kicks rear end for low and slow strafing runs. The AI isn't good enough to hit you hard at low altitudes and you're still quick enough in the Harrier to zip up and let the SAMs pass under you. I abuse the yaw controls for fine corrections on my strafing runs and it helps a lot if you're slightly off on your attack runs between buildings.

I have a Wild Weasel with upgraded engine and missiles for the ground raids. It's the fastest attacker until Su-34, and AD tanks and bunkers are already a two-missile kill at lv. 4 Turning a Fishbed into a Moby Dick MVP in a room with four Tomcats and some other rabble is still hilarious. I switched the nickname to Fashion Leader just to rub it in. Are there any gun-related nicknames there?

I got MD3 once and walked away with 110k credits. Granted, that was with a mercenary contract but still, a good run on that would be worth a crazy amount.

I've seen Moby Dick II twice. The first time I was lucky enough to S-rank it. The second was right after I ran out of fuel last night. EDIT: Well that's a nice way to feel better about not getting the "Mercenary King" nickname. Did three sorties at Tokyo after I woke up and S-ranked it all three times. I wish the emblem for the second Tokyo challenge was a little bigger, because it looks pretty sweet. I get to fly around calling myself the Far East Messiah now, though, so I guess it's worth it.

I must have flown over a hundred matches by now, and I've seen Moby Dick III exactly once. If you do see it, definitely boost for it. It drops absolutely stupid amounts of credits. Tough fight, though. It has quite a few tricks that MDI and MDII don't.

Holy poo poo you guys, if you have the Phoenix emblem equipped, you get red smoke trails for your missiles. That's awesome, and totally makes the effort of getting into top 1000 worth it for me. Thank so much Namban.

Red trails are pretty cool, but unless pink or other flamboyantly colored trails are at stake I'm still going to save my fuel in future competitions in favor of stretching out my free play time.
