Yeah I won one regular game and one with the wolf challenge, and the wolf one ended up being a lot easier. You can pretty easily get every skill that's even slightly beneficial so you don't need to put much thought into the build. As long as you take care to avoid floors with 100% physical immune enemies and focus on picking up mana potions and good items, it's a pretty easy win.

Yeah clay wolves are definitely the way to go. I never came across an elemental shrine in my wolfer run, but I was able to avoid physical immune enemies almost the whole time. I think the only time I screwed up was going to an area with vampires because I forgot some of them turn into physical immune ghosts. Focusing on items helps a lot, especially portal disruptors and anything that can do elemental damage like dragon horns.
