How did this get past anyone? The website for this "high school" is is literally just a blog about the football program.

Don't know how others feel about Rodney Harrison but I'll be way more able to enjoy FNiA now that he's been booted off the main desk.

I’d imagine we’ll find out in a few days that an exec has a stake in whatever fund started the for profit charter school.

Reminds me a lot of the USA Academy debacle in Alabama, only this one actually played football.

I fuckin love my state’s vaporware fraud rear end football team and I need a hat of the team logo immediately

Awful Announcing has done a tremendous job investigating so far. Paragon, ESPN and IMG are all tremendously to blame. Paragon's president knew about the Friday game, shrugged his shoulders and said he'd hoped they had two teams. ESPN could have stopped the debacle by declining to air the game. They claim they sounded the alarm to Paragon, so they knew this was bullshit long ago. IMG played these guys last year.

I hope ESPN does a 30 for 30 someday on how ESPN was scammed by a fake high school football team

Ohio is a breeding ground for ridiculous charters because our legislators are all type 2 diabetics whose blood is sausage gravy.

Hey, they played Sto-Rox, one of the Pittsburgh area's finest academic institutions! Those kids would probably fare better academically by playing for a janky fake football high school than attending Sto-Rox.

Everyone's burying the lede here that it's a bunch of JUCO rejects getting trucked by literal kids and that's probably the most hilarious part https://twitter.com/DragonflyJonez/status/1432519034965217282

Yeah the funniest part by far is that they're doing all that and are still terrible

They should put the rest of the team's games on so we can see if the head coache's active arrest warrant gets acted upon.

Can’t imagine being so desperate to play football that you sign up to do Ironman football for a fake school, and you do it twice in three days to boot.

So uhhhhhh people should probably be going to jail for this, right https://twitter.com/ZionOlojede/status/1432547766178299911

After the first articles I was wondering, just what exactly is the scam on the coach's end and how could he intend to actually get away with any money or connections to a real job or anything -- I feel like even if there's theoretically some money involved you probably can't successfully get any real amount out of say the ESPN game into your pocket with an operation this shoddy, they're just not going to cut you the check before figuring it out and if they did they would come after you to get it back -- so quote:What were the financial particulars for being involved with Bishop Sycamore?

At first the whole Bishop Sycamore thing was kind of hilarious, but now after seeing all the details there's really not much funny about this story anymore. The worst thing is that even though there are probably a lot of people who should be fired for this you know one guy will end up taking the blame.

More stuff on Bishop Sycamore coming out: https://twitter.com/awfulannouncing/status/1432839886147440643 quote:It’s just for Roy Johnson to make money. I know he is, because it can all be proven via court records. Schools… like he will call up a powerhouse school in Maryland, and say “We will come play you but golly gee, we are this struggling organization, so you need to pay us money to pay us to get there.” And the school in Maryland will say no problem. Then all of a sudden, hey, there’s a lawsuit in Delaware County, Ohio because Roy Johnson never paid the busing company. Okay. So where did that money go? Maybe it went to the hotels? Nope. There’s a lawsuit, he never paid the hotels. Maybe it went to the helmet manufacturers? Nope, there’s a lawsuit. Never paid them. So, maybe it went to the banks where he took out loans? Nope, there’s lawsuits. He never paid the banks where he took out the loans. He just pockets the money.

The only African Cup game I ever watched was Zambia defeat Ivory Coast in a shoot out in 2012. It was one of the greatest things I ever saw, probably because I ended up in a bar full of Zambians living in Chicago.
