I don't know, if they fire Booger, I imagine he'll just stick around no matter how many times they try to get rid of him.

Imagine looking at the dumpster fires that Zucker made of NBC and CNN and wanting him to run your sports division in addition to still running CNN.

Had to pick up my in laws from the airport during the Super Bowl so was stuck listening to the radio broadcast of the game and Kurt Warner was surprisingly good. I was wondering why he didn’t get a TV job

Well, there goes any hope of TBS and TNT sports being even remotely decent.

God, Jeff Zucker is such a loving idiot on every level and yet he keeps getting work. Remember, this is the guy responsible for the Leno / Conan fiasco and it getting completely out of hand.

His level of fame skyrocketed from it. If he was just some real estate rear end in a top hat he wouldn’t have had a cult of celebrity.

Bad, very bad!
I think I'd argue that having a cult of celebrity is what got Trump the apprentice show.

I also think I'd argue that Jeff Zucker is a jackass if we lived in a world where Trump didn't exist.

Is this Heaven?
Nah he had pretty much fallen out of the spotlight relative to his heyday in the 80s and early/mid 90s, and was at a financial low point when he got that show. It is harder to remember now because he is literally all anyone talks about but it actually played a really big role in reviving his awful brand and making people view him as a successful business tycoon again (even though in reality his business was pretty much a disaster by that point). His primary appeal is that he's willing to be overtly racist but being viewed as a successful businessman and master dealmaker is also part of it and a lot of that mythology comes from the show presenting him that way. He also made a shitload of money off it

Yea, The Apprentice likely saved his businesses from a total collapse. His casinos in Atlantic City had individually gone through bankruptcies in the 90's, but in 2004, Trump Hotel Casino & Resorts as a whole filed for bankruptcy, they changed the name to Trump Entertainment. That company filed for bankruptcy in 2009, and Trump pretty much got sidelined by creditors. The Apprentice let him sell of licenses for his name, that probably has kept him going way longer than he should have. The guy has always been salesman first, competent businessman way down the line. He's really good at scamming people, including large lenders, out of money.

Not just that, but at the time NBC was not only stone-cold last among the four networks in Prime Time ratings, but IIRC on some nights they were also being beaten by Univision.

Most everything Trump has ever done has just been money laundering for the Russian mob. His properties are mainly used to function as chips to circulate amongst the mob, cleaning up money with every purchase. There's a ton of his buildings that have never been used, just for this reason. That is the business model.

Because things like that Don't Fit The Narrative, and Trump's fanbase (outside of Republicans) is the douchebag suburban Boomer who owns a poorly-run business and acts like he's in a mob movie.

The Clinton campaign was too busy running as if they already won, with all the score-settling and grudge maintenance that it entails. They weren't worried that Trump would win, and treated him as a sideshow joke.

Watching you sleep.

Butt first, let's
check the feeds.

I doubt Bernie or anyone would have hit that angle much harder or more effectively without some smoking gun (which is why some people wanted the tax returns in hope there'd be one in there). Stuff like Trump U and the ties to Russian money circulated during the campaigns but they never had as much traction as Trump's naked racism and misogyny.

But yeah, ultimately Trump's voters don't care that he's a dirty crook who wants to be a mobster. That's a feature to them.

Reggie is Harlan's regular NBA partner on TNT so they're just keeping them together, but yeah it sucks that the best post-Gus March madness play by play guy is stuck with the worst color commentator on Earth.

It was kinda fun to have the Inside the NBA guys involved the first time but at this point I am pretty much over having a bunch of people who don't actually watch any college basketball involved in the broadcast every year. Barkley hasn't been consistently good on TV in like a decade now.
