Oh this is fantastic.

EDIT:

quote:

“I remember one time I was backstage,” said Ian. “I locked in on a gentleman that did not laugh, did not crack a smile. I couldn’t stop looking at him the entire show.” Over a postshow milkshake and a toasted bagel with cream cheese, Ian asked about the man.

“I don’t know what’s going on in his life,” said Jack. “Maybe his wife is shtupping his accountant.”

Years later, Eagle told me: “I’m 7. What’s shtupping? But his point was well-taken. I can’t concern myself with every single person. I can only do what I do, and my hope is that it connects with the majority.” He added, “Zero percent of people have a 100 percent approval rating in broadcasting.”

goddamn that's some good rear end perspective

Last Thursday heading into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournaments and toward the NBA playoffs and NFL Draft, Undisputed averaged just 48,000 viewers during its mid-morning slot. That equals the smallest audience of any Undisputed broadcast since it returned from hiatus last September, per Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch.

It was clear already that Fox had a problem on its hands when Bayless struggled to find a permanent cohost to replace Shannon Sharpe, and viewership lagged throughout the NFL season. But in the weeks since the Super Bowl, the situation has gone from bad to worse.

They really should have paid Shannon, how could they not tell that was the reason for the show growing to the point that it did?

It also sounds like the relationship was beyond repair with Skip too. I realize plenty of people put up with coworkers they don’t like if the money is good, just look at Adam and Jamie from mythbusters, but I’m not sure Shannon wanted to stay for any money.

From what I know it’s mostly the former. Skip’s tweet about Damar Hamlin seemed to be the breaking point. They apparently hashed it out a bit off-air and that helped but it may have been a “too little too late” thing for Shannon.

He's pretty much cut himself off from his entire family IIRC, although I think a lot of that stemmed from a really abusive father.

Skip gained his initial notority by insisting that Troy Aikman was gay, which Aikman's never forgotten and tried to block Skip from joining Fox. Supposedly Skip was set to do more with Fox's NFL coverage but Aikman put a stop to that.

Skip's the OG troll. Everyone spitting out twitter and forum hot takes are just minnows in the kiddie pool compared to Skip being the blue whale in the ocean.

Its really hard to enter the WNBA early

quote:

Under the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the WNBA and its players' union, draft eligibility for players not defined as "international" requires the following to be true:

The player's 22nd birthday falls during the calendar year of the draft. For this draft, the cutoff birth date is December 31, 2002.

She has either:
completed her college eligibility;
received a bachelor's degree, or is scheduled to receive such in the 3 months following the draft; or
is at least 4 years removed from high school graduation
