I've seen games go perfect for 12 innings all for naught. I've seen no-hitters pitched on illicit drugs. Homer streaks lasting eight games and 20 run losses. I've seen pennants won and seasons collapse. All these memories will be lost in time. Like tears in the rain.

How the hell does Mark Madden have a job?

Was driving home from Pittsburgh for a job interview, and this guy is simply an rear end.

He kept doing some poor man's Jim Rome schtick re: NASCAR Racing, and called it a "bunch of rednecks driving around in circles"

The proceed to claim that said race was "Fixed". (awfully big allegations made by someone who I recall reading started his career covering pro wrestling).

Mostly because of folks like my dad who:
A. Drive for a living during his hours.
B. Like sports enough to form opinions but not read about it.
C. Think that WDVE doesn't have a good music lineup and instead listen to WXDX.

Up here between Weirton/Steubenville and Wheeling we get all the Pittsburgh channels but while Root Sports and PCNC are in the actual cable listings, all the network stations are back in the 190s and 200s. Odd considering for years you could pick up Steubenville's WTOV-9 in Pittsburgh on channel 9.

Huntington is really weird too. Maybe it was just the hotel we stayed at, but we got Root Sports but not Cincy or Columbus, which it's closer to.

Hahah oh wow. I really thought that was a Quaker State place.

It's a chain. Their first restaurant was an old closed Quaker State Station that became available when QS started closing in the Gas Crisis in the 70s.

Apparently the San Jose Sharks' tv broadcasting deal is so bad that the league has stepped in to intervene.

Also according to that article the situation is so bad that it questions whether or not the Sharks will stay in San Jose though to be honest I doubt it's that bad.

Well it seems we might be nearing the end of the whole disaster of CSN Houston... sort of.
Barring an appeal from Comcast, CSN Houston would be bought by AT&T and DirectTV, rebranding the network as Root Sports Houston.

I heard this on NPR while driving this morning: Frank Deford is thankful for the Spurs
A sample:

Frank Deford posted:

Has there ever been a team in any sport in the United States that everybody loves as much as the San Antonio Spurs? Sure, there have been popular teams — the Yankees, the Dodgers, the Cowboys when they were America's team and not Jerry Jones' team, Notre Dame — but all those teams engendered almost as much hate as love.

But everybody loves the Spurs. You love the Spurs. I love the Spurs. Have you ever heard anyone criticize the Spurs? No! The good feeling about our Spurs — and, yes, they are our Spurs — is because they are certified to do everything right. The players are all gentlemen. They are never selfish. They play like a team. They win. Our Spurs are not greedy. They are nonpartisan. If only our Spurs were Congress. They pass the ball and play defense.

I kept sitting there, waiting for the punchline to come and it never came.

The Harrisburg local radio station has dropped the Phillies in favor of the Washington Nationals

The station boss had this to say: “Nothing against the Phillies, but clearly the Nationals are a team on the rise. They won the NL East last year and are picked to win it again this year.Obviously [a winning team] helps in all ways, and they certainly will be a postseason contender that makes a deeper run in the playoffs this year. Unfortunately, I don’t see that in the Phillies’ immediate future."
