It really owned how the NFL kept caving to Trump when he whined about the national anthem bullshit and then he goes and says he wouldn't let Barron play football because it's too dangerous

Is it really that surprising that a country that not only tolerates but celebrates the Pro Bowl will watch garbage-tier football in February

Yea, The Apprentice likely saved his businesses from a total collapse. His casinos in Atlantic City had individually gone through bankruptcies in the 90's, but in 2004, Trump Hotel Casino & Resorts as a whole filed for bankruptcy, they changed the name to Trump Entertainment. That company filed for bankruptcy in 2009, and Trump pretty much got sidelined by creditors.

Not like anyone ever accused Trump of being smart but isn't this just money laundering for the Russian mob?

This doesn't even make sense. People are gonna switch back to cable so they can pay for a bunch of channels they don't watch, and still not be able to watch any of the original programming on Netflix, Amazon, CBS All Access, Hulu, etc?

Guess what cable companies are including for free to entice people to sign up

ALL of them? Because unless they’re offering all of them, the original point makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense that depending on someone's individual tastes, streaming services might not save them money

Even though it's obsolete now there was definitely some magic in watching NFL Primetime to see what all went on that day. Or "the fastest 2 minutes in sports" at halftime of the Sunday night game.

For a sport without playoffs soccer sure manages to have a long-rear end season. And when there's the world cup or the Euros it's like the season never ended.

The fact that more than twelve people watch preseason football is perhaps the greatest testament to how popular/powerful the NFL is.

Despite marketers' best efforts we can't tell how many people REALLY watched it. I want to believe that people were like "oh yeah football" left the channel on and wandered about the house. Not "HELL YEAH FOOTBALL IS BACK" *furiously takes notes for fantasy*

That’s a great example of end game streaming. Hyper specific content for yet another cost. At this point no matter what you watch, cord cutting is about to be as expensive as just keeping bullshit cable.

Can't wait for Disney or Amazon to buy all the other streaming platforms and charge $200 a month for access to all of them

Yea, but a lot of times you can renew that deal or something close to it. Feels weird going to bat for loving Comcast here.

Remember how you used to call AOL to cancel and they would give you free months? Threatening to cancel still works for tons of subscription stuff. It takes me 5 minutes on the phone to get half off XM for my car every year.

50,000 people showed up (yes, the NFL reports actual attendance) to this garbage game. I remember because I unfortunately had to be one of them. Single digit temps, the Steelers rested everyone, and the Browns were about to go 0-16. If this was an MLS game between any two teams, how many people do you think would be there?

It's a loving joke how much UEFA stuff got paywalled when TNT bought the rights to it. I almost wish sports leagues would turn down deals like that because it lowers their exposure and it's not like they're getting a cut of whatever subscription bullshit people have to buy now.
