That episode was a swing and a huge miss. I'm probably jaded a bit because I despise musicals, yet Sunny has always entertained me with their bits, and Nightman Cometh.

Yeah, I loved the episode. What is it with goons and their hatred of musicals?

I dunno, almost every musical I see is corny as hell.

I always enjoyed the Nightman Cometh because it was also a trainwreck, and the gang are at their best when they're acting like they're bad at acting.

There were definitely good parts of this episode, and I laughed a few times, but it was just not great.

If musicals are by default fun, then yes, I don't like fun.

But since musicals are not by default fun, and are often incredibly cringey, I'd say it's not that I dislike fun so much as I dislike corny poo poo.

That said, I laughed at Dennis' face caught himself doing that little belly dance at the beginning was pretty great.

Why is everyone being such a douche to people who didn't like the episode (or some other episode) that much? We're all Sunny fans here, or at least the vast majority of us.

I mean if you cited specific examples or something, sure. But this whole drop in to say "what a poo poo opinion" is lazy bullshit.

Can anyone else not re-watch Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs? I don't think it's a bad episode, it just feels too suffocating and tense. I know that's the point and that's where the humor comes from, but for some reason it hits a weird nerve in my brain that makes me feel overly uncomfortable to the point that I have to shut it off.

Are there any Sunny episodes that do that to anyone else? Ones that aren't necessarily bad, but you can't re-watch them because the subject matter is just too upsetting?

The thing that sticks with me in this episode is the little things, like all the garbage piling up in the back, the holes in the wall from Mac's attempt at setting up an entertainment center, etc. Also Dennis and his hallucinations.

My favorite little throwaway bit from last season was Hwang's snake sandwich. I don't know why, but the idea that he was laughing and taunting Frank with snake meat just cracks me up to no end.

The escalation of everything in the episode is what makes it gold. Mac's famous mac and cheese gets Dennis in it, The storm of fists, the chirps, it all just builds so well.

This clip would be perfect if it included Dennis pulling into the neighborhood tailgating his neighbor then speeding past as they turned into their driveway. What a show.

I'm not too much of a fan of the Dee hate, because it reminds me too much of the super lovely Meg hate. Family Guy took that lovely joke of hating a character for no reason to the extreme though, at one point making an entire episode around the moral that a child needs to be abused by her family in order for it to stay together, not really played off as a joke either.

That said, Sunny has nowhere near come close to that dead horse, whereas FG is inside the dead horse, beating off with the gizzards. Usually Dee actually deserves it, or they use it in a way that's actually funny, like how Frank says "bird!" because he can't think of anything else to say in that Frank POV episode.

When Dee has her moments of triumph, they're almost always incredible. That scene in the two-parter where she gets a job subbing at a school and the guys call her to taunt her at work is incredible.

"Goddamnit, you guys, I am a teacher now. Don't ever call me here again! I don't have time for your poo poo, you dumbass dickbags! ... wrong number, sorry"

Rob McElhenney did a pretty good interview on the Marc Maron podcast, and he talked about how he's always felt like his acting was secondary to his love for producing and directing and all that.

He also acknowledged his status as the least-pedigreed actor on the show. The discussion went from there to subjects like the Minecraft movie he's producing/directing.

The whole podcast is a good listen, even if you don't like Maron, which I'd imagine is common.
