Did anyone go through and mock The Whately Universe? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/WhateleyUniverse?from=Main.WhateleyUniverse I'm pretty sure it's incomprehensible forum roleplaying, and it used to be spammed on every trope page. The worst thing I saw was a Fetish Fuel page for some kid's show called The Backyardigans. I hope it's been deleted.

That's why ninjaxenomorph's "attacking our creativity??" was so funny - not counting the occasional internet tip of the hat from creators who are vaguely aware of the site, the biggest creative successes from the TVTropes community are a Neon Genesis Evangelion/Warhammer 40k crossover fanfic, a rewrite of the first Harry Potter book by a maniac who wishes he was autistic and the line "the dickgirls opened fire". There was apparently some evidence that Community creator Dan Harmon is/was a Troper (Abed definitely is). I like the show, but that wouldn't really challenge the idea of Tropers as thin-skinned and emotionally immature.

The best possible Troper, one you'd actually want to spend time with, but still a guy who predicted the events of one episode in the episode by making a list of college movie tropes on the study group's whiteboard. With all the overlap between mainstream creators and the Internet I find it hard to believe that guys like Charles Stross or every comic book writer who constantly posts on his message boards (Warren Ellis, John Byrne) wouldn't at least know about the site.

I'm sure lots of Tropers think Walt's a misunderstood genius who did it all For Science! and got revenge on school bullies/mom/the system by using LOGIC and SMARTS, but they exist here and on reddit and everywhere else online. They do list him under Nice Hat, though. So great, the site got something right.
