Assuming you have devs who are equally competent in both server side (Rails/Django etc.) frameworks and JS based ones what are the major factors that would lead someone to choose between a server side or JS framework? Am I wrong in thinking that JS based frameworks are unsuited for projects with performance and security based requirements?

For example, can someone more or less 'steal' all your JS and reverse engineer the backend, to reproduce your website? Or are all the JS controllers/models/logic etc somehow obfuscated in the frameworks
