There wasn't a massive serialized thread through the first Season. When they do arcs, it really matters and I don't get frustrated with the inclusion of filler before pay-off. I prefer this, to be honest. It feels more organic and allows them to focus on smaller multi-episode plots like the Demographics group that aren't earth-shattering like the Adler/Moriarty arc was in the first.
