I mean, I know what you're saying, both Irene Adler and Moriarty appear in one short story each and yet have become integral to the mythos. Psyched for season 2, I love procedurals with jerk detectives.

I've been re-watching season one and just got to my favourite reference to the books. In the episode after M, in the beginning when Sherlock is looking at his Moriarty wall, Watson comments on a picture of Napoleon and Sherlock says that he might have been reaching after his fifth night without sleep. Its kind of perfect because while thats how Moriarty is described in the books (the Napoleon of crime, which is written on the picture) it wouldn't make much sense for Sherlock to say that outright (theres probably any number of fictional and real people who would be better suited as a comparison). Its one of the things I love about Elementary, usually its played like a bog standard crime drama that just happens to have Sherlock Holmes in it (barring stuff like the première where there was all that dramatic pause for Mycroft being his brother). I remember reading the synopsis for this show during the summer before it aired and thought I would end up hating it, never would have guessed it being as good as it is.

Don't leave us Bell, you still need to have a heartwarming scene with Sherlock redeeming himself ![]()

wormil posted:If this were any other show I'd expect Bell to lose hise job and get hired by Holmes or alternately be Holmes overseer but the writing is generally better than that. It could still happen way down the road but it's too soon for that. I think he'll end up taking the demographics job and find some sort of evil plot going on there and end up having to go to Holmes for help.

Surprised no one mentioned the best line in the episode - She is a riddle wrapped up in a mystery inside an enigma that I have had sex with. The delivery of that was great.

Blind Pineapple posted:At least I'd like to see them stay civil. I don't really want season after season of them playing cat and mouse, when there are a lot of other interesting angles the show has to offer like Mycroft and Bell. I don't want this show to fall into the trap of having the main feud run way too long when the characters are interesting enough that they can do other things. What I want is for her to go back to being a criminal mastermind - but have her trying to be a better person with less (or no) killing. Maybe have her plot wacky schemes just to have Sherlock come and visit her. Or possibly have her team up with Sherlock to take down her mentor, who for some reason doubles down and goes super evil. I imagine Sherlock won't be getting any other love interest either way.

Maera Sior posted:Other than the part where Sherlock happened to find the exact time that Aurelius was testing the fuses, I enjoyed the episode. I hope they find a reason to bring back Sean Pertwee for more. Surely there would be a way to search the data for abnormal spikes in temperature? Didn't seem too far-fetched for me, but then again I don't tend to think too critically about tv shows. Hope we see more of the cocks.

It's always nice to watch an episode that reminds us that Watson has her problems too, as small as they may be compared to Holmes's. EDIT: And I want to see Sherlock/Miller singing let it go in a pretty dress. I'm hoping it might be on the dvd as an extra. Good news: Theres an episode next week. Bad news: After that, it looks like theres another break. MrFlibble fucked around with this message at 03:06 on Apr 4, 2014 |
