I'm up for it. I commute by bike most evenings and I'm pretty lucky not to have to deal with traffic as I work 3rd shift. Saturdays are my nemesis and any ride that day I'll have to meet up sometime around noon to 1pm (I get out of the office at 8am.) Sundays I'm free all day, just let me know when/where and I'm available.

Are there any roads other than on/off ramps in the area that are worthy of trekking to in the immediate area? I know about the hill country/3 sisters, but is there a hidden gem nearby?

Otherwise is there a route I can take that has at least decent sights (architecture/natural formations et al)?

Anyone catch a look at the moon between 9pm and 10pm tonight. Looked beautiful as heck while I was dodging cars on 635 on the way to work this evening. (I'm a sucker for nicely shaped and looming celestial bodies)

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to see what I can do to get out and about. I really need new tires. The Pilot Road 3s I have on my bandit have been on there for a little over 9500 miles now. Until 2 days ago they weren't too bad, now they've gotten square and cornering smoothly is no longer a thing.

Sure, you got a bike and are in the Dallas or wherever area... I think that qualifies.
Though none of us have had a meet up yet. Everyone begged off.

Anyone up for a ride around town tomorrow? It's supposed to be 72 and partly cloudy. Maybe a meet up at a restaurant (partly)owned by Ben Spies to help keep him solvent during his retirement?

Good to meet you Padre Scout. The food was excellent, the company was excellent, though I will say new bikes with factory silencers in tunnels are a little underwhelming. When i get the GS450 together enough to go down the highway I'll have to go back.

Don't be shy folks, post up a time and place and let's get some riding done.

Unless you want to group ride in circles around my neighborhood I'm not quite up for anything yet, but once I get some more miles in and have some actual confidence on my bike I'd love to do something. I don't have any friends with bikes in Dallas.
If you're int he metroplex area I've got a 450 that I rail on sometimes. I'll go out and about on a neighborhood ride if you want.

Glad y'all got together to ride. I didn't see the activity in this thread, or I would have gone too. I haven't been on SA as much as usual. I'm definitely down to ride next weekend if y'all are going out again. If the forecast holds up, it should be a really nice weekend.

I spent the weekend in the garage doing doing maintenance on and cursing at my bike, so I will be good to go.

I'm not sure if there's anything set up for next weekend, if you have a route in mind post it up and we'll see what kind of thing we can get going.

Either that or the aforementioned blue bonnet bash would work. We've already established that riding around with no particular destination and a food stop or two does work as a meet and greet.

OK how's this, we'll run the blue bonnet bash on Sunday. We'll meet up hereMetroGrill Texas at 11:30am get some lunch (also make sure everyone has fuel for the bikes). When Lunch is over we'll try the route out and see how it goes. After that we can either break up or if someone has a suggestion for something afterwards we can go do that.

The blue bonnet bash route is only 50 miles in length and has at least a few turns and corners in it.

If someone else has other suggestions for a closer venue, I'm open to it.

Be aware the weather will be 66 degrees but partly cloudy, make sure you layer clothing as needed.

meet up address:
121 S. Main St.
Ferris , TX 75125

This weekend is the Dallas Motorcycle show, anyone interested?

It's truck weather. I love this stuff though. For me it's a ton of fun to drive in. No one on the roads and I can take it easy. Though saying that I pushed 3 cars out of ice(snow) banks and towed one guy out of a ditch. The bike is sleeping for a few days.

"Why We Ride", yet another documentary to try and explain the wonders of being on a motorcycle, or some other bullshit, it's cold and there's no active motorcycle racing going on right now. They are trying to show this film in local theaters through "tugg.com" events. I've been to a few events through this site and they do work. As such anyone want to get together and see this?

Love to help ya there but most the places here charge even more than the shops I dealt with in Chicago did. Get a service manual and some tools?

I think 5 is the road I tried to take after I missed the exit on 75. There is literally a huge pit, like with "detour!" and poo poo signs all over it like a cartoon.

I got off the exit for 5 and just kept going for like 10 miles. I ended up turning around. On the way back on 5 there was a sign for the "historic downtown mckinney". I made the correct guess and ended up on Virginia. As reported there was construction at that corner and the signs are missing. (I went right by your place I knew i should had offered to go up together.)

Some dang fine roads. Not quite up to what I'm used to but definitely entertaining.

Thanks for hosting the ride kuffs.
