Try running as admin.

Also, if you added the launcher as a shortcut to launch through steam you can just add "runas.exe\user:administrator" to the launch options. I was having the same issue you were and that fixed it for me. Takes a bit to load, but doesn't immediately crash on startup anymore.

Also is there anyone that can sort of explain the dynamic factions mod that is used in CoC and presumably baked into Anomaly?

I am not sure how to go about improving my relationships with hostile factions. For example, military doesn't like loners, do I just kill some military dude and take his clothes and then run jobs for them in disguise?

Will that get me to the point where I can interact with military without being dressed up?

Or is that not how the feature is intended to work?

Yeah those were the two I was going to mention off the top of my head. Feel like there's a sweet spot there. Also I think a certain type of aliasing is really hungry.

Off to what feels like a really strong start. Rocking the Nomad armor, Exohelm with an kobra sighted and silenced AK-74, sawed off and Veles detector. Debating if I want to do a few more missions in Cordon to upgrade the first tier of armor or make my way to Yantar and start doing Ecologist quests.

Or I could hunt for artifacts.

What are you all currently getting into?

It is essentially CoC with way more poo poo going on and a lot more ways to tweak it to your liking. Also completely standalone and reworked engine. Highly recommend.

I started with Call of Pripyat and enjoyed it a lot. Add a few mods to make it look a bit better, but vanilla is fine. Make sure you play on Master difficulty because of how damage in the game works.

Once you get a feel for the game and figure out if you enjoy it, look at Anomaly which really lets you drill down and balance poo poo exactly the way you want, while giving you every zone from all the games and an overhauled engine.

Vanilla CoP is good fun though. Hope you enjoy it.

Not that I am aware of, and that has not been my experience with vanilla CoP, but I mean I could definitely be wrong.

Ready to see what all the excitement is about, as someone who only played CoC and never messed with Misery or its off-spring. Having done nothing but make my character and walk around the Clear Sky base (because Clear Sky is easy mode), I am overwhelmed with what everything does.

I feel like we should get a discord going or join one in common so we can nerd out about this game and help newer people get started.

I am, going to be actually getting started on it tonight. From patch notes it looks like Doctor, an essential (but not immortal) NPC got moved to a static location so dogs would stop eating him a half hour after the game starts.

I am also wanting to spend some time figuring out how to customise the disguise system. My plan is to get good rep with ecologists so I can buy a decent suit of theirs and then see if wearing that will let me go to the military check point in cordon and run missions for them.

Not sure if anything really changed with story mode from 1.4 aside from the new quest lines and Doctor moving, but it was working fine back then.

AI also seem remarkably bad at shooting each other too. I fast traveled to the car park in Cordon thinking it would still be clear, freed a stalker and then three dudes started shooting. The friendly stalker and bandit both had shotguns and just kind of strafed back and forth in front of each other missing every shot, if they shot at all.

They don't seem to have any problems doming me though.

Do you have enhanced gun mechanics or whatever the gently caress that setting is turned on? I found if I fired more than a single shot bullets would spray in such insane patterns that I'd miss really easy shots. Wolf also might be Immortal. I tried unloading on him for giggles and my bullets didn't do anything.
