Nothing to do with brands or crystal type or origin (which impart subtler flavors). Finely ground salt is only "saltier" than flake salt if you're measuring it by volume. A cup of pickling salt will weigh more than a cup of kosher salt because more actual salt would fit into that space due to being more finely ground. Asides that, no one type of salt is inherently "saltier" than another. Sodium chloride is sodium chloride.
